If diesel and hole in the piston means one injector had an issue. Normally dirty fuel and filter did not work. Diesel is in too big droplets and gets to the piston. Sticks to the piston and then lights up and burns a hole.

The owner of this bakkie is clearly not impressed. I wonder if this will motivate Ford to assist the poor guy by showing a little goodwill.
My brother-in-law had the same problem with his, lucky at 29000km and still under warranty, so Ford replaced the motor and bil traded it on an Isuzu a day after he got it back from Ford.

Wonder of daar n chip betrokke was.....
each manufacturer has one of those. I can still remember the Isuzu guy as well with the bent chassis. Scary how much money people can spend on this type of thing.
If he is correct and ford incorrect why is it that he has had to resort to this to try and either get money back or new vehicle.
Without knowing what caused the burnt piston in the first place you cannot really point fingers or expect the dealer to foot the bill.
Would be interesting to know what the root cause is... dirty fuel, faulty injector, naughty software mappings...![]()
I have a friend who over the weekend lost his second engine in an eco sport, the first one on 25 000 km's and now another 25 000 km's later the second one.
He took it to Ford yesterday, his warranty expires tomorrow, his piston no2 broke.

Case in point why I will never ever buy a Ford...
Goedkoop is duurkoop...
Sulke goed is sommer simpel.

We have actually now recently had a family member with 2.2 double cab. below 100k on the clock and 1 month out of warantee with motor going. Full service history. This guy really does not hold back on his vehicle, in this case I would not be happy with this engine failure. This is his retirement vehicle/tow/holiday vehicle.
Sulke stunts word net gedoen om die fabrikaat "ransom" te hou. Dit grens op afpersing.
Maar sonder enige ander feite behalwe vir die foto's, is alles net bespiegeling.

This is akin to a spoiled child throwing a tantrum.
Ford should give him a grown-up hiding.

I'd think the MFG is almost always going to come out on the losing end of these. How many sales will it cost, vice cost to MFG to solve and have a customer service win? If it costs 2 sales? 3 sales?
Certainly, not knowing the facts of the matter, make it impossible to comment meaningfully on the specifics of this case - my comment is more in general. I've only had one "big" issue with a vehicle where there was opportunity - a Jeep grand cherokee that had just gone out of warranty, had a major transmission issue. Jeep fixed it, no cost. They did not have to. I remember that.
Could a person like this not be sued for defamation of the brand or something?
Could Ford perhaps tangibly calculate how much reputational damage this could cause to them in lost sales ect?
I find this akin to the cancel culture where people are lynched mobbed without any concrete facts.
