Because it isn't turning into a better country, it is making some people rich, and the rest of the population poorer and even worse off.

Let's be honest about it, if all the roads were perfect, if all the infrastructure was on par, if all the hospitals were decent, and all schools were great, then most of us would not moan about the tax paid, be it road, fuel, paye, vat.

But, having to pay a house payment in tax monthly so some entitled people can plunder more money, and then having to pay more at every turn, just because they plundered all of the money, and seeing our infrastructure going for a ball of shyte, I feel "entitled" to complain.

BTW, there was an article I saw the other day, that due to the amount of money our Government has borrowed, each child born is practically born with 68 000 rand of debt, just to be able to pay off the debt.

Remember that number, and lets open this thread 10 years from now.

No, if they want to tax for a perfect country, then they should create a perfect country, and stop emptying the coffers.

Remember, first we moan, eventually we get gatvol of moaning when nothing changes, and down the line we start taking action. A lot of professionals have taken action by leaving, meaning less money to improve the country. It all starts with a moan

I have seen ( I really cant believe ANYONE IN SA HASNT) how taxi drivers drive - our public transport is NOT SAFE its a absolute disaster waiting to happen. Comparing ours with first world is just STOOOPID !

They also have crime, sure but there its the EXCEPTION not the rule, unlike here in SA

The fuel price goes up by a couple of cents and we carry on as if it's the end of the world and that we have to stock up for the apocalypse..

You will probably have to queue for 30min at the fuel station this afternoon.. so that you can save yourself R45.00.

I think we need to start realizing that we are actually quite well off here in good old RSA, we only pay +/- R16,00 for diesel.

I can with all honesty say, and I know this for a fact, that public transport all over the world has the same issues..

There are rape cases (in public transport situations) in the UK, America, and any of the European countries..

No chance it's at the SA level. I have lived and/or worked in several countries. Nowhere have I encountered more dangerous and unreliable public transport than in SA post 1994. In the early 80's I used to catch the train to Cape Town for a night out and return on the last train at midnight. Not once was there an incident and the trains were on time. Not once did I encounter an incident in the city either.

In Germany my wife could walk through the park in front of our home to the 24 hour convenience store without fear. We went everywhere on public transport and didn't ever see an incident. The only murder near a tube station that happened in the several years we were there made headlines for months.

I once took a cab from the Gherkin to the National museum in London, its about 8km. It cost me 10 pounds.
A day pass on the tube costs 5 pounds

think about it

We pay half the fuel price compared to 1st world countries (barring America) and then we bitch about our road conditions and infrastructure shortages.

You can afford it >> I cant go to Kruger once a year like I used to from PE ..At 70 I retired hoping to go to Kruger 2x a year etc ..Now I will be lucky to get there once every 3-4 yrs >> Other people do struggle show some empathy

I am not a Saffa but I'd LOVE to live there if I could. I am an avid visitor to SA, when finances and Covid allow.

It's the best of both worlds: wild Africa at your doorsteps (and little or no malaria!) but at the same time 1st world housing, health, food etc... if you can afford it. Yes, crime is a problem, so you have that...

Try the rest of Africa for something really worth moaning about: fuel shortages, power shortages, skills shortages, cash shortages, dog food shortages, meds shortages, butter shortages, 'non pot holed road' shortages, 'everything' shortages!
