Default Red 6 in GD6 fading

Anyone noticed this? I first saw it on a 2016 Hilux a few months back, it was light pink! Since then Iíve seen quite a few, even on a 2018. Bad quality colouring / pigment used maybe? Or normal wear and tear?

Was wondering. They do have a problem with oxidation. Is the red paint iron based?

Red is more prone to fading due to how susceptible the colour is to UV but that will only show after many years parked in the sun. Fading after only 5yrs points to it being some kind of issue with the quality of the paint or application thereof.

Have you tried to polish it a bit? It should return it to its former glory.

I think the OP is refering to the GD6 badge and not to the colour of the bakkie! We have a few here that are faded like that.
The fact that the badge is manufactured in SA tells me enough!
