EVENT
What - March 2021 Difflock vs Traction Control brekkie Run
Why - Subsequent to the exiting discussion regarding the use and capabilities of Traction control VS the use of difflock, we have decided to put the various theories and thoughts into practicality.
Refer to the thread on the forum: Difflock vs Traction Control. Link below
https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum...action-control
When - Sunday 7 March 2021
Where - Hennops offroad Trail- R511 Gauteng, Pretoria,
Who- All welcome, soft roaders and and hard roaders.
Time - Meet at the entrance, greet and deflate if necessary @ 09h00 Sharp
Fees - R250.00 Per vehicle. Payable on entry.
We have booked the LAPA for our event.
The plan following on the Difflock VS Traction control thread is to bring your vehicle standard or modified which will be classed and demonstrate it’s capabilities using the newest or oldest technology as far as Traction control use or use of difflock, CD, LSD, FDL, AWD ETC… in various circumstances. The idea is to get as many various makes of vehicles as possible to be put through the paces and share the outcomes.
This will be a further opportunity to meet some new and old folks and google some new gadgets on the latest vehicles if we have any.
For those who want to, you can go drive the trail as well and as usual, after the morning’s comparison, we will debrief at the LAPA, share results and yessssss, Braaaaaaaaaaaaiiii. So bring meat, wood and drinks.
NB# It will not be a brand bashing competition. ( NOR A DAY TO PROVE WHO IS BETTER THAN WHO OR WHO'S VEHICLE IS BETTER)
We will not be doing anything vehicle damaging.
Yes, stock soft roaders are welcome including Havals, Amaroks, Subarus and your trusty Range Rover or Q7
No, your vehicle does not have to be modified. In fact we encourage stock vehicles as it will give us a true result.
4x4 Community Rules and T’s and C’s will apply.
COVID 19 PROTOCOLS WILL APPLY
A. Social distancing
B. Masks will be worn
c. Hand sanitizer to be used.
RSVP on the thread and we will add you

Subject to school sports resuming I am in. Will a soft roader amarok be permitted, and since my wife does all the driving on these things, will that be okay? I have no plans to break the wagon and will cop out if it gets too hairy and testosterone filled. Also I have HT tyres, so should provide some comic relief if it is raining.
Also wondering.
Thinking of the trail, im trying to think what area can be used for the testing with enough space for the spectating?
Either way, Im keen to come along, maybe more to spectate than participate, but lets see
edit: Base4 would be a nice venue for testing and spectating, just thinking aloud![]()

I hope someone brings a Duster, while I had mine I never had the opportunity to fully test it's capability, I suspect it will do well.

Rechardt you seem to be good at organizing. Maybe there should be a provincial type meet. It is a bit far to come up from Nelspruit or KZN or the Cape. The Cape also does not seem to have much experience driving in mud.![]()
Will you be publishing the findings and types of vehicles.
Many Thanks
Please, don’t measure the size of the mountain; talk to the One who can move it.
I suppose the only problem with Hennops is that you can do most of it without DL by choosing the correct line (I guided 2 previous Gen Jimnys through as well as a Prado which only had a LSD). Therefore you will most likely not be able to test the effect of a front locker.
Rear DL will idle through everything. TC will work like TC should with a bit more wheelspin.
The standard Amarok with road tyres will do everything. Guided a 4x2 Auto Amarok through most of the track.
What you will typically need are some serious uphill axle twister where you need good traction and where one wheel pulling/pushing (In Low Range) will not be enough. Should also be such that it cannot be overcome by good flex.
