Rear DL will idle through everything. TC will work like TC should with a bit more wheelspin.

The standard Amarok with road tyres will do everything. Guided a 4x2 Auto Amarok through most of the track.

What you will typically need are some serious uphill axle twister where you need good traction and where one wheel pulling/pushing (In Low Range) will not be enough. Should also be such that it cannot be overcome by good flex.
Valid points Henk, but to find the right place in all aspects of the theory on this type of test will be difficult... and then to keep it close enough to have enough attendance to make it fun for all, is an added challenge.

We endeavour to do the test as good as possible taking the track and conditions into account...

And... have fun, and be social as the brekkie runs are supposed to be

But if I had a choice, although hugely advantageous, the new defender will be awesome to see in action.

If there's a Landcruiser going, I'll just bring the Evoque though. Proven to pull out Landcruisers safely

    Ummm...

Guys, it seems I started something exciting with a sense of 4X4 camaraderie in the air ie it is not a brand competition (Which is absolutely wonderful).

But, I live in PE, how am I going to get to Hennops on 7 March No worries, have fun and I am very excited to see the results and feedback.
    Regards

Can i bring the XC90 with the RT tyres? Might be interesting to see how a softroader with a rather mediocre offroad system works with the angriest tyres you can find that will fit on it haha

Please count me in. Anyone know someone who's got a Subaru with X-mode? I'd like to see how it compares to the previous generation like mine.

Single diff-lock vs traction control over 4 wheels not a fair test.

I recall some nice axle twisters right at the first hill. Yes you can go around them, but you can also go straight through if you want to test things a little more.

So i have locked the event into stone with an invite sent to the madams calender and mine so that I don't forget. Look forward to meeting some of the good folk on this forum. I shall be in the one galloping in front of the amarok guiding the madam through the obstacles. I shall bring a camera to try and record some of the fun, but last time i did this I realised my camerawork was pretty poorly to put it mildly.
