For this exact reason, no low range on reverse, I did not buy the V6 Amarok.
In my specific case I need low range in reverse to park a boat.
Even the 200VX Landcruiser that I had struggled in high range reverse. Torque converter as described above. Low range, once selected, was easy.

So Volkswagen sien dit so: die eienaars wil nie n transfercase h, so hulle hoef nie een in te sit nie.
    Goeie een

Exactly - I would rather have an annoyingly low reverse gear that can do the job, than one that will allow me to go like the clappers backwards, but not move when I am axle deep in soft sand. Sounds like they need to add another gear to the reverse box so they can have a low-low first and low low reverse, and then normal gears for the rest of the box.
This should be doable as they would then still be at less gears than the ford ranger.

One more reason why I love my manual 132kw 4 motion Rok. Read an online Aussie review a while ago regarding the 165 kw V6 Manual Rok with low range ( Available in Oz). The writer was adamant that it is probably the best manual 4X4 dc Ute available in Oz. Why o why did we not get it as well. Pointless discussion actually, as VW won`t listen. The next Rok will be designed by Ford, built by Ford in a Ford factory, probably a Ford engine, drivetrain (probably a problematic Ford 10 speed auto thrown in for good measure) and chassis. But it will still be a VW we are led to believe. Yea right.....

There do seem to be issues with putting big torque through a manual trans and still having some semblance of refinement. I know the Hilux 4tlr V6 Manual was discontinued for this very reason as the GB could not handle the engine. This was also the reason that MErc gave for never having manual boxes on any of their high end, big power vehicles.

I am not mech eng, so I couldn't say, but it may be that the Manual V6 gets killed for the same reason? Agree though a v6 manual with LR and more moderate trim could well be a winner.

It would appear that the functional requirement exceeds the design specification. The design specification would probably have been determined by the marketing department.

    Eish Estee,
If it wasn't for that pesly full stop, you would have encapsulated the motor industry in one sentence.

True. That same marketing department will have their hands full trying to sell the new Amarok to knowledgeable or informed VW customers as pure bred VW. Serves them right.

My opinie is - as jy 'n voertuig wil klassifiseer as 'n "regte 4x4" moet jy ten minste 'n laestrek ratkas op hom he. So nie is hy 'n softroader soos 'n RAV4. My beskeie opinie.

Wie/waar is dit geklassifiseer as 'n "regte 4x4"?

So ek dink die Jazz was dan 'n 4x4. Hy het uit die gemors uitge-reverse.

Nee is reg. Volgens my definisie het jy 'n proper 4x4.

Drywers doen
