    Default February Family Fun Feast

    When : Sunday 28 February 2021

    Time : 10:00 sharp, until about 16:00

Where : De Vette Mossel, Parys

Why : To have more of a "meet and greet" and have a chance to chat and get to know each other better.

Who : You and your family (if you're on speaking terms)

What : Softroaders, mediumroaders and hardroaders (are those words??)

How : Get to Parys using as little tar as we can

Preliminary plan (to be updated after a recce)

Meet at Baragwanath Airfield, leaving at 10:00 sharp. Drive to De Vette Mossel in Parys on gravel as much as possible. Gravel travel should be about 2 hours, including a few small detours to make the scenery a bit more interesting and avoid tar. More about the route next week after a recce. We need to be seated and settled by 13:00 latest. We should finish eating by about 15:00, afterwards make your way home at leisure.

De Vette Mossel more info : https://parys.devettemossel.co.za/

The venue is on a smallholding, and is under an afdak, so it's open to the air (desirable in these times). The food is brought out as a series of courses, in buffet style. The theme is to bring a coastal beachfront restaurant inland, so barefoot is recommended. There is a small splash pool for the kids. Do NOT expect crystal glasses and bone china; you're meant to be on a beach!

There is a small bar (alcohol ban permitting!) with fairly limited stock, but you are totally permitted (in fact encouraged) to bring your own cooler box. Please drink responsibly; it's likely that most of us will have a long drive home.

Please advise when responding on this thread on how many pensioners (I assume that means over-60), how many adults, high school, primary school and pre-school kids. Also advise if you plan to drive in the convoy, or meet us there...

I'll have more info after my recce on Saturday. But in the meantime I'll try and do a screendump of my proposed route on Google maps. Give me a few minutes...

Done. Is it a road bike? If not, you're still welcome to join the convoy. I plotted the proposed route based on some bikers that did something similar - I think on 1200GS's...

Thanks, Renier; I've added you. To be honest, with it being a road route I had given no thought to comms. I also don't (yet) have a radio - so I can't answer your question.

Can I do a shout-out to some of our participants to handle radio comms please?

Maybe if all can say what radios they have. Or bring what they have. We pick the type that is the most on the day
