Hi Jors has the River risen yet!
I'm waiting for todays video. (TIc)

Nothing, not even a mighty mountain, will stand in Zerubbabel’s way!
I remember something like 125% being the highest it has been , and I found this that supports that.

The Gariep outflow is steadily increasing. 2300 now.
We got some news that according to the calculations the flow will increase to about 4500 , the peak flows from the different areas is fairly spread out.
At least the Vaal has not joined the fray yet.

My oupa het ook daar geboer. Ons het sulke goeie tye langs die Kraairivier gehad laat 80s tot vroeg negentigs. Ek was nog klein.
(Hy is in 1992 op sy plaas vermoor).
Jammer dis vreeslik off topic. Maar selfs na al die jare kan ek nie weer kyk sonder om te kyk wat gebeur met Aliwal-Noord se weer nie.

Perhaps one of the most compelling arguments that the current rainfall is a once in a lifetime experience. This is a must watch. Had no idea it was that bad then:

It sounds like those running Gariep dam will be able to flatten out the peak to 4500 Cumec, that would be great.
The leading edge of the wave currently inbou is now at Augrabies raising the level there to about 1100 Cumec, it should steadily increase to 1600 Cumec. It will hit us about 2.5 days after Augrabies. After that figures suggest it will drop to about 1300 before rizing again from the Gariep waters.
Ill see if I can spot oom Grips red waters as it comes in.

My family and I did a little road trip down to Gariep and Vanderkloof yesterday and it was quite a site. I would estimate more water being released from Gariep than from Vanderkloof, but that isn't based on anything scientific, just mearly by how it looked.
All water being "released" was over the top of the dam (at both dams), no additional sluces were open while I was there. I am sure this is part of the effort to flatten the curve as one could clearly see the river was very full already (in places it was clearly covering trees with only branches sticking out).
Gariep 3000 and Van der Kloof 1700 today
Is there still rain falling? Yr predicts some around Kroonstad.

Driving back yesterday we had rain pretty much all the way north of Kroonstad. On arriving home in PTA the neighbours informed me that we just had 47mm. Today still cloudy in PTA with rain predicted, so seems like it yes.
Where exactly is the watershed for Gauteng? As far as I know everything north of JHB goes to the Limpopo eventually.
As far as I am aware it is not called the Witwatersrand for nothing. Everything south of Hillbrow flows to the Vaal, everything north of Hillbrow flows to Harties and the Crocodile river.
