Where the Isuzu is slightly more expensive it makes up for in engine capacity and will come with extras the 2.2 ranger wont have. PDC and cruise control etc...

Assuming you 4x4 the extra engine size will be nice on the Suz. Re-sale value also generally better on the Isuzu's.

The Ranger will have better consumption, the engine is quieter and feels less bakkie-ish.

Also take into account general condition of the vehicle, how many owners it has had, and if from a dealer what sort of guarantee they can offer.

Hi All

We are looking at buying a second hand 4x4 DC bakkie, but we are in two minds which one to choose. The one is a 2015 Ford Ranger 2.2 TDCi XLS 4x4 D/Cab with 120k on the clock for R299k, the other 2014 ISUZU KB300 D-TEQ LX D/CAB 4X4 with 185500 on the clock for R320k.
Advice please....

The difference in extras on the facelifted model is quite huge, there are a lot more electronics, touchscreen radio, reverse camera, electronic folding mirrors and all that jazz.

The nice thing about the 2014 model you're looking at is it's from Hayes Motor Group which is a reputable pre-owned Isuzu dealer.

Agreed!

But that's what makes them so appealing to the secondhand market, they depreciate so quickly to the point where it's a no brainer compared to a Toyota or Isuzu equivalent for double the price.

I will also be looking later in the year at a reliable 2nd hand 4x4.
I would love a 3.2 4x4 ford but I am very sceptical of reliability of the auto box and manual is scarce so will also look at 2.2 manual.
People tend to abuse those 3.2 4x4 allot.

Had one at our one site yesterday with 440 000km on the clock. Everything original just received a gearbox flush recently and we did some paint detailing.

Guess it depends how it is taken care of.

I'm sorry but comparing the price between a reputable company and some dealer in Jhb cbd is not sensible for any vehicle. I would not touch that Ranger with a 10 foot pole. Those cbd dealers are known for cooking the km's, and while 90000km for a 3 year old vehicle seems fair, I just wont trust spending my money there.

It is still your decision. What i showed is that there is good bargains out there, especially on the Rangers, That is why you look for 2nd hand vehicles at dealerships which are at least DEKRA [AA] CERTIFIED.
