maybe consider going to Tankwa via the Gannaga pass and exit via the Oubergpas, Sutherland, Laingsburg, Seweweekspoort, Calitzdorp?

What is the latest news on roads in the area - they used to be very hard on tyres!

In all the times we visited Tankwa we never had a puncture...but I make sure I suitably deflate all tyres, keep to a low speed of around 60-70 and have a keen look out for those sharp stones

I was in Tankwa from Christmas for two days. My route was from Jhb to Bloem to Tankwa (not my best of planning). From Bloem you head in the direction of Kimberly, well BEFORE Kimberly then in the direction of Calvinia. Before Calvinia thereís a turn to Tankwa. I didnít take that on and headed to Calvinia for fuel (luckily in did that). Just after Calvinia thereís another turn that takes you to Tankwa. Youíre looking at 40-50km of dirt road (from either the first or second turnoff to Tankwa) to the Reception.

Im saying this as from Rustenburg Iím certain itíll merge to this road.

From reception to the campsite will be quite a drive. I was in Elandsberg (25km from reception). Not sure to the campsite youíre at.

Heading out to Stormsriver, I can only comment if youíre heading towards Ceres. Yes, I second a previous comment, welcome to the longest gravel road in SA. I kid you not, 150km of gravel. F..k (sorry but does warrant that). I experienced no issues just that looooooong gravel road. And yes, deflate tyres, there some crazy corrugations.

Possibly a Sutherland turn then from there to the N1, then to Outshoorn, George, then the awesome road to Stormsriver

I will have to go dig around a bit, but for the Tankwa to Stormsriver leg.

My previous neighbor gave me directions to drive from the N1 close to Beaufort to Willowmore, all via jeep track on farm roads, he use to farm in the area. It was a turnoff right of the N1 and then just follow the track, open and close all gates until you hit Willowmore. This was a very beautiful road as it crossed the river a couple of times.

I will see if i can find the directions.
