    Default Ford Ranger 2013 DC 4x4 3,2 Fuel Consumption

    I have been keeping a log on my fuel usage over the last 30,000 kilometres. Info Sharing

    Kilometres = 30,767
    Litres = 3797,64

    Average litres / 100 kms = 12,343

    Highest consumption = 14,89 Litres / 100 kms

    Lowest consumption = 9,47 litres / 100 kms

    We live on a farm in Mpumalanga and 30% of our driving to and from town is on dirt roads. I do a lot of slow driving around the farm every day. We have our long trips to Jhb as well as holiday travel.

    If we lived in town these figures would be a lot better I believe.
    The more we talk about what is wrong, the less we see what is right in this world.

    I avg 9.5l/100km to 10.5 in around cape town cbd. Also depending on how heavy the foot is of course. My worse is 11.7 riding really hard.

    The interesting thing is, we have two double cabs, bought about 3 months apart. The fuel consumption on these two differ by about 1l per 100. No matter what you do, the one is slightly heavier on the juice than the other one.

    The unfortunate problem is that it is a waste of time to take it to an agent, they have no clue as to how to adjust a diesel for optimum consumption!!!

    The lighter one easily gets below 10L per 100 on long trips even when I am driving with my heavy foot, when SWAMBO is behind the wheel, she often gets below 8L per 100.

    Now 133000 km on open road me driving at speed get just over 11km/l town 9km/l before some adjustments. Son and 4 friends went to Messina from Pretoria they getting 9.2 km/l but he said he enjoy the overtaking and was doing avg 130km/h after Iíve done some adjustments. Iíve remap ,bigger intercooler and remove the cat so I ask him to report back because I havenít take her on long open road after adjustments. They again went now to Tzaneen so I ask him to stuck to speed and see if any better.

    Why worry about a 3.2's fuel consumption ? If it was considered the 2.2 would be a better option.

    Do you both drive both vehicles or do you stick to one mostly? Because your last comment is very pertinent: driving style.

    When I drive our Wrangler, I get 11L/100, when SWAMBO drives, she gets 13L/100. Same vehicle, same roads, same routes.

    We had the same with the 4.7 V8.

    My auto gets around 11l/100km in town and drops to around 10l on a long journey.

    With RTT it goes up to between 11 & 12 wind dependent.

    Driving the thick sand in Makgadigadi & Nxai pan I had figures of 18 - 20 which was quite amazing
