Please, donít measure the size of the mountain; talk to the One who can move it.

Wow that's terrible, looks like a lot of suffering for those in line. Assuming the Covid issue passes later this year, what is typical wait times?

No such thing as typical time at Beitbridge. We have crossed +/-14x in the last 5 years, quickest crossing 35 minutes, longest crossing 4 hours

Donít blame yourself over past mistakes. Itís like driving down the N1 while looking in the rear view mirror only.

Gents, this backlog is an anual problem. And the design in the customs area doesn't help either.

Years ago, when the current setup was planned, they consulted all the clearing agents of how to do the layout.

Then the whole thing was built, ignoring all the advice needed.

The result is a lot of sharp turns, that super links can not negotiate. Let alone an abnormal.

Let's look at abnormals only. These loads struggle to get past the canopy at the entrance. Forcing trucks to have to move. How do you move in the current chaos?.

Then the abnormals can't get through the normal commercial channel. Thus they need to go upstream into the incoming commercial lane.

Taking just this in mind, it is chaos.

Then normal passenger traffic is sent via the old kaplyn road. The old road that patrolled the fence. The result is that this road is now toast.

Trucks can't go on that road as it is to steep in some places. And it will miss the weigh bridge.

Now consider all this and add a high 40deg temp and no facilities.

Just one final point. About 15yrs ago there was talk to build another border crossing about 20km to the west. But that funding went the same way the Eskom funding went that had to upgrade the Eskom network.

Now go and look at what they did at Kazangula. Chalk and cheese.
