    Some call it offal,
    Some call it tripe,
Some just say "You bloody philistine, bring that within a 3m radius of my plate and you'll die a violent and painful death!"

Some of it clambered into a pot tonight and got conducted.

The rest are in the process of being turned into a traditional Hagws to be consumed with "neeps and tatties" on Christmas eve.

I am seriously irritated here. Its now a couple of days. I can only see @JeepNewbee's and @Brannas' pictures on Tappittalk. This forces me every so often to access the forum on my pc to see all the pics.
    Please help.

Started with my Gamon for tomorrow. Making a special potion, onion, garlic, fennel, carrot, aniseed, saffron, cinnamon sticks. Will cook for two hours, then I will bake it for another hour in orange juice. And finish it under the grill by glazing it with a honey glaze. Going to serve it tomorrow.

Wish I could paste the amazing aroma in my kitchen on this thread! The fragrance is so good I am wondering, is it acceptable to have a glass of wine at 8:30 in the morning?

Anyway I think all of us who can enjoy such an experience with our families can be truly grateful. And thinking especially about RvW's family who will surely feel a huge void this year having lost him so close to Christmas. May God give them peace in their hearts.

+1 on that last thought, Hooly. And my gammon gets more of an Indian vibe with cardomom and cumin.

Afternoon everyone, the final arrangements for Riaan’s memorial will be as follows:

Venue will be Imvubu Lodge next to Richards Bay Caravan Park - The service will be taking place next to the dam, and there is plenty of parking.

Date will be 28 December 2020

    Time - 15h00

It will be casual as Riaan would have expected - Please bring with camping chairs

There will be a short service after which we will be lighting a fire for Riaan in the caravan park - this will in all probability turn into a braai

There is some of Riaan’s final batch of VanWyk Dark Rum, which we will be toasting him with..... with a Varkdop, obviously

Zelda and I will be here until the memorial, and depending on how many attendees decide to stay over we may arrange a block booking

I will update the thread as more details become available

With 2020 having been the year it was, the attendees to Xmas lunch will be severely depleted but any reason to start conducting food is a good reason!

Un-smoked Gammon being slightly boiled in apple juice and cloves before being transferred to the round black dingus with a lid, where it will be joined by some hand grenade Nkuku and a hand full of wet beech wood chips.

Angel and Storm (my daughter and son) have seemingly fallen head 1st into a recipe book - she's decided to make a copper-penny salad and he has dug out one of my late Mom's jelly molds and decided to make some cucumber and jelly thingy.....both of which could have some "interesting" results. At least MIL is bringing her tried and tested potato salad, so if all else fails we'll just do a quick green salad to join that.

I'll try to do the pic thing, but with me, nothing's guaranteed!

With it being just me and the Pom, we shall not be doing much tomorrow. Just a fowl and stuffing with roasties and veg.

Some burgers tonight... well, for now, it might change before then.

As a follower of Forn Siđr, its ale, pig, bread and ale this evening.

Mainly the traditional Jul foods on the 24th and then the inlaws do the traditional 25th meal.

This year I have opted out of the 25th so it will be left over pig and ale tomorrow and then more hot tongue and cold shoulder when the First Wife returns from the aangenaaides tomorrow evening.
