According to my 14yr old daughter I'm an antiquated GOM (Grumpy Old Man) who's level of technological development came to an abrupt halt at the level of an abacus. To a large extent she's correct - I believe cell phones are primarily there to make phone calls, I don't know how to take & send pics, I don't know how to connect to the interwebs, I'm known to turn smart phones into dumb-asses and make grown men cry if they try and explain to me how to do it.

So I've been silently lurking in the background of the old IAT and shall continue to do so.

The gods decided to bless us with rain today and rum has been known to turn me into a (more than usual) blithering idiot that speaks like a weed-eater.

    But
: Riaan being a KZN boytjie, I'm conducting a curry courtesy of the bottled flames and mandela microwave.
And: 40-odd years ago, after a trip to (the then) Rhodesia, my late father brought me back a bottle of Ron Tigres Dark Rum. That bottle had remained sealed till tonight.

Cheers RvW, may you have many happy fires in the sky!

To all on IAT, this is a message that I have received from Hester with the request to post it here as she is having difficulty to register on the forum. She does however read all of the posts and thanks each and everyone.

Riaan sou werklik so dankbaar gewees het. Ons Moes "it are time" en Dan proe ons en was Wyd beindruk. So môre as Ek die swaarste ding denkbaar gedoen het...

An early biffday present from Swambo and I decided to open this special one to have a drink to our very special friend.
A true gentleman for sure who brought so many of us together with his ninja cooking moves.
So many of us became good friends here on IAT and we developed our own language and words and we just understood one another in our own way.
Here’s to Riaan we really miss you and thank you for giving us a thread where we can all kuier together with all our differences and jus have a good time.
Im sure you revved a couple of pans till noisy in heaven with the best nkuku and veg in anti CIA stuff. RIP

A salute to Riaan and a tribute to his schemings!

Starting off with some homemade hummus, which I never would have made without his influence!

    Nkuku on stand by...

    Cheers!

Riaan would have served it with a damper, but a cranberry & almond rye bread would be a good substitute.

Thank you to each and every person for their contribution to this wonderful place!!
