    Yea right!

On a serious note, most likely, take a breath at depth, and surface suddenly without breathing out during the ascent, should do it!!!

    That is surprising.

    Who needs scuba training anyway.

Well scuba is not really regulated. Anyone can go dive, but at your own risk. Your policies and medical aid might not attend to you but nothing stops anyone from scuba diving without any qualification whatsoever. It’s a really stupid idea nonetheless.

Yip many who buy this will get hurt.

Scuba is like driving. Anybody can try do it. The training is so that you can do it properly........

I never go deeper than my standard snorkel depth anyway, so this would work for me.

Lots of potentially dangerous things can be had without training. If you want a Darwin Award, go for it. What worry me more is that with some items you may take OTHER people with you in your conquest to win a Darwin Award. Not so for this snorkel product.

Thanks - manufacturing standard seems to be good:

With each Snorkl comes a regulator and a pressure gauge telling you how much air is left. The regulator is always-on, breathe-on-demand, balanced single stage regulator and is made with the same time proven technology found in regulators used by SCUBA divers around the world.
Might just get one, or more

Yep, wouldn't mind one myself! But unlike Jelo, my normal snorkel depth (in the days when I still did spearfishing), was 10 meters. So this will come in VERY handy, now that I no longer have the same endurance as I had when I was young

I have a stuffed eardrum. I prefer to stay above 6m. But yes, lung capacity and endurance.

I'm very tempted to purchase one. Does someone have a good site to read up on the do's and don'ts?
I normally spearfish over december and enjoy some snorkelling. As I understand using such an apparatus while spearfishing would be illegal?

Yes certainly would, as you are then scuba diving, so to be ethical don’t do it.

Sorry - going off topic here...

Does spear fishing mean snorkel-only ? ie: It is legal / fine to spear fish provided you don't have scuba gear to assist with breathing ?

Sorry - I know it is off-topic, but I am a moron when it comes to scuba and spear fishing, so just curious.

Correct, but also you can't just shoot any fish. The idea is to shoot only the roving predators and not the reef fish. The same limitations for fishing applies (i.e. you can't shoot fish if they are out of season).

Thanks for the clarification... So its sort of like deep sea fishing in Soddies - you can trawl (ie: catch predators) but not bottom (ie: the reef fish) ?

Apologies for digressing, but as I said, I know nothing of these matters - just very curious... Never associated spear fishing with snorkel only.

Agree 100%, with the disclaimer that the device in question could quite easily make an innocent well meaning friend the topic of one of those conversations.
We have similar devices in all our lifejackets at work and it's a one day course to be allowed to get in the helicopter with one.

Can't this be pretty useful for smoke filled environments? Since smoke and not fire is the real killer? Say if you stay or work in a high multistory building and want to get out with smoke being less of a risk?
