What to get as a DD?

Looking to get a DD from end December/Beginning Jan '21. The D2 V8 gave up the ghost in lockdown, and I sold it to a willing mech. So doing homework (again)

Criteria
- 7 Seater (3 Children that become biggest enemies after 50km)
- 4x4 with LR
- Any fuel
- Auto/manual
- 50-70k Range

Used for
- DD (school and visit clients on occasion. I am a remote worker by trade anyway)
- Golf trips (4ball/kit/brandy stains)
- Camping trips (pulling offroad trailer/roofrack)
- odd playtime at Atlantis or various trails
- Long road trips (although my wife's tiguan sniffs diesel on the open road)

Possible 7 Seaters
- Pajero Gen 2/3
- Disco 2 TD5 (again? sanity lost)
- Prado (read desperate seller on above mentioned budget)

Outside 5 Seaters
- Grand Cherokee (WJ/WK)
- Nissan Patrol
- FJ62 (one of my fave beasts - sold as the rust ate it)
- RR P38
- Touareg (in this price bracket might be a lemon)

So opinions please. I have time so no desperado

And thats it. Someone suggested the Forester and XC90 but without LR I will kick/scream when presented with obstacles

With that budget you're probably not going to get a Prado unless the seller is VERY desperate but then again he'd get more for any old Joe Soap. So realistically you're looking at Pajero / Disco I would think... Of those I would go for the Pajero but a decent Gen3 would be at the very top of your budget, even slightly over. ANd no, I'm not pushing the Pajero because I have one but because I think it is the better option for YOUR stated needs.

I don't think you would get a more comfortable and kitted ride in that price range. It is capable. You'll make your Tee time without oil on your hands........

Yeah car prices, despite the economic downturn, have been going up like mad, especially SUV's and double cabs. R70k wont get you anything decent or reliable

The fact you not worried about fuel type a v6 pajero will fit comfortably in yoir budget and a fairly decent one too. It will be reliable so no worries there.
Forget toyota at those prices.

Couple of Prado's in your price range on We buy cars. Have a look. All high milers though.

Once a vehicle hits a certain age or mileage it all depends on the care that was taken of the vehicle. Whether it's a Tata or a Toyota they are all worth very little.

It is i think it is due to the reliability and pricing of them.
I am biased though.

But in all honesty, it really is a huge amount of reliable motoring at a really great price.
