I thought it was unbreakable and cheap to repair?

It seems that the chain in the transfer case is really worn out. In Pietermaritzburg, we can't find any replacement chains, not even close, for such an old car.
What are the possible solutions?

'89 Pajero MMC (Gen 1), 2.5D, little Japanese tank on wheels, old like mountains, no idea what's inside, no idea how it is able to move, steers itself (almost), can be fixed with a hammer and prayer (or swearing), body full of scratches, noisy like airplane, no safety cushions, no aircon, no other breakable crap. I love it.

So that is the First Gen L040.
Shared a lot of items with the Hyundai Galloper.

OK, transfer case parts code seems to be MD721485 or MD733919.
Also used in the Hyundai as I said.
Also used in the Delica wagon.
Long shot, but it might have been used in the Mitsu Colt as well.
You could try Goldwagen or Korean Motor spares.

I think the Gen 2 shared parts with Colt Rodeo, but it’s worth checking if the transfer case from a Colt will at least fit.
The 4x4 Colt bakkies of that era used the same engine, transmission and transfer box.

What’s the gearbox model.... I’ve got a 4 speed auto box with a lefty TC which looks very similar to that.
I think it’s a 3040L (I know that the LE is the electronics version)

I have opened my TC which looks the same. Chain is R10k from the stealers. I will take the chain in to BMG to have it matched. You can follow my endeavours here.https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum...07#post4498707
If you need the rear output shaft bearing with the circlip in the bearing outer race let me know. I have one which looks like I am not going to use.
