    Default Lifespan of an inverter?

How long do these hybrid, fancy inverters last?
I've heard talk of 10 years max, for SMA , 15 years easily...The warranty on most is only 5 years...

    Funny life this.

Many of us still have electrical appliances and tools that are 30 years old that still work which originally came with a 3 month guarantee.

My Lead Acid Banks with a 5 year lifespan have probably got 10-15 years left in them ........SOOO

And I have LED lights that have died in the first month. And not stuff from the Chinese mall either.

Most of them never get to the claimed lifespan, some lasts no longer than the old tungsten globes.

But then most things bought today won't last 30 years like what we bought way back. After 40 years my Marantz hi-fi is still working fine. I don't think you will get it from a new hi-fi.

Ours is 10 years old, however to be honest we don't use it much, we've figured out how to do nearly everything from 12V.

    Funny you should mention that.

CFL's have to be the worst, or rather where the worst.

Cost an arm and a leg, crappy light/size ratio, ditto light/energy ratio, unreliable .......

And about as environmentally friendly as an oil well on a coral reef.

Off course one does eventually get to a stage in life where you donít have sleepless night worrying about how long your appliances are going to last.

But they were a great improvement wrt incandescent lighting which was the alternative in the bad old days.

Have a MLT 4kva inverter that gave up after 20 years. Have been told it might be something small/easy to repair. Will report back once/if fixed. Last battery bank went after 13 years.

I still use a lot of CFLs. Can't argue about anything you said. Not even sure if the rated 11W or 15W POS actually uses that.

So my question is: does that expensive Eurolux 6W 4000K actually perform any better??

4 years ago I was told one cannot use a CFL globe inside a fireplace for lighting.

Guess what, that same globe is still working, 7 days a week. I have never had a globe last this long before.

I still have a few CFLs around and some must be 7years old. Have then on the bedroom fan as a 3 bulb fitting. 2 have been changed to LED.

Cannot say at R20 each a CFL cost a lot of bucks.

Speak to Cape Town MLT branch, They will sort you out. My MLT Powerstar is going for 10 years now and still going strong. I'm the second owner of it and got all its service record papers with it when I bought it.

I had Axpert before this that lasted 2 months. Got the magic Error 09 on it and then you can say good buy to it.
