Hi all
I recently bought my first project car - a 1973 Datsun 1200 Deluxe sedan. I had been looking into getting a car with an A series Nissan/Datsun engine and this one ticked the majority of the boxes I was looking for in a project car.
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to who can supply a complete 32/36 Weber carb for a Datsun A12 engine (may need adaptor plates, intake manifold and gaskets in order to fit on my vehicle - previous owner stated that there is currently some weird Chinese carb on the engine at the moment and I can't see any markings on it to indicate a model or brand). I don't have to go with a 32/36 necessarily but it has been listed as one of the best carbs to use for good fuel consumption and power delivery on the A12 engine (as per the Datsun 1200 Wiki website).
A carb specialist in Durban would be preferred but I don't mind trying to get one shipped from elsewhere.
Feel free to let me know of any other carbs which may work well for this application.
Cheers

I somehow recall that they had twin SU's on them.
The GX came with the twin SU

Why not just fit a carb from a Nissan 1400 bakkie?
They are dirt cheap and should be a direct fitment

Here is another thread that may help.... all the A series motors 1200 to 1500 are almost identical in ancillaries

This was the first car I bought in 1982 - a 1974 model.
Ran well, easy to work on.
The Deluxe model definitely had single carbs, the GX model had the twins.
Some pics please ?

The Citi Golf carb might actually be a better option.

I learnt to drive in 1990 (when I was 9) with a 1964 Datsun Bakkie. Still have it. Probably going to sell it in December. We have a 38 weber on it. One keel blanked of.
Enjoy your project
It's definitely the Deluxe.
I looked at that but I also saw that people with the 1400 often forgo the stock carb and buy something bigger. Lots of people recommend the 32/36 Weber for this engine and the only place I could find one has it for a Ford 1.6L/2.0L so I'm not sure if I can get adaptors and whatnot to fit the A12.

If you really want the Weber then have a look at these guys.
It will be an import but they actually ave a kit to fit the A series engines.

Mate of mine fitted a ported GX intake manifold with twin side draft Webers on adapter plates on his Deluxe.
