Default British and Irish Lions 2021

With the 1st round of ballots complete for tickets for next year’s tour it seems us Saffas are getting the tail end again, of 15 people I know of who entered the ballot only 2 were successful, and both only got the cheapest/worst seats. Fortunately that means I will attend two Test matches as well as the Sharks match, but all seating behind posts. The Pound paying Brits it seems will get all the prime seats, very unfair.

Anyone been lucky enough to get some of the prime seats for test matches, or will the only green be behind the posts?

In early 2021 you will have the option of buying 'resale' tickets that guys don't want.

Its a ballot, nothing unfair about it - if you have 800000 applications for 50000 tickets your chances are limited - both my sons and son in law got none applying from the UK

I applied for 4 FNB test tickets. Got THEM, I am happy.

I just wonder if we will be able use our tickets with Covid around, I hope not!

I'm not certain if there is a more recent thread on this topic, if there is I couldn't find it. With the recent Covid outbreak in the Bok camp what is the general feeling in South Africa about the probability of the tests actually taking place. Watching things happen from afar, I'm in Brisbane, it appears that there is a chance of the remainder of the tour being called off before the tests begin. With the number of Bok stars being ruled out, lack of locks (De Jager, Snyman, Orie, Etzebeth possibly ruled out), lack of a world class flyhalf (assuming Handre won't be available), no Vermuelen, I think the Boks will be massive underdogs if the tests are played. So depressing after waiting for 12 years, interested to know what others think.

I think it boils down to what the Lions want to do, do they take the risk of contracting covid? Like the Georgians did last weekend? (said on radio this morning literally the entire team has it) Stand a chance of ending up in a South African hospital? Maybe miss the boat back home? I don't think they will take that chance.

In my view they can't cancel the tour because the "Boks can't stay in a bubble.

The "Boks will have to field a second string team if it comes to that. This is the new world - if you can't comply then you should reap the rewards

Why bring the famous British and Irish Lions to SA when they can't even play in front of a crowd?

To me, it's useless. Sure there is history ect ect, but where do you draw the line in terms of player safety and money, or nostalgia?

With the current massive outbreak in the Boks camp, if I were the Lions, I would say cheers and fly home.

Unfortunately this is the new reality we live in.
