I wonder now, is it your passport nationality or your port-of-departure which determines your exclusion.

So if I'm French, drive across the border to Germany and buy a flight ticket there, could I visit SA?
Yes you could, provided you spend 10 days in Germany first before boarding a plane for SA.

So my long planned work trip to Tasmania is now deadlined for week 50, to meet the container being sent ex HO in Germany.
Tried to get effective info on how to get to Hobart, information and opportunities are scarce.
Damn, my first real job for the year and I can't even book a flight!
Seems only a special request visa will be considered on critical skills application plus 2 weeks quarantine on arrival in Australia but even the via the way flight schedule has quarantine restrictions en route!

My cousin will return from the US sometime early to mid November, I presume regardless of test he will have to quarantine for 10 days? What's the policy on Saffers returning from high risk countries?

    Good question.

The whole thing is about a clear as mud.

Anyone have any press reports that clarify these issues?

    I found this, maybe it's of some use to some, although it does not refer to Saffers;

They literally can't put enough sticks in front of themselves to trip over.

SURELY you would consult the major carriers before making these decisions?

Why would they? These are the same people who stopped e-commerce because it was unfair to informal traders and banned cigarettes because people share zol. Remember we are still not allowed to travel between 00:00 and 04:00 and at one stage we could only exercise outdoors between 06:00 and 09:00 in the middle of winter. Of course beach sand was a huge carrier of SARS so you could run shoulder to shoulder on an overcrowded pavement or boardwalk but surfing or walking on a nearly deserted beach got you arrested and your child possibly kidnapped.

Question to both Jakes and Sean -

So assume the white electorate had voted "No" in the referendum. What do you think the scenario would have been in South Africa today? All going along merrily?

Good point. In 1994 SA was bankrupt, white SA's were exhausted from fighting a '75-'89 border war, the wealthy had emigrated already and overall we were in a bad way.

If it was not for the Zuma "lost years", i'm sure the outlook would have been very different today!

However, lets be truthful and say it, ALL politicians, are only there for their own good and to advance their own interests so i imagine we'd still be in the same crap as we are today, regardless of the yes,no vote......

Were probably loading or in the air when their Head Office made the decision?
