The reports, though unconfirmed, marry with news first reported in CarsGuide that the locally-delivered Toyota LandCruiser 300 would swap the 2.8-litre diesel offered in international markets for a punchier V6 diesel to satisfy our towing and off-road requirements.
No single country at the moment in which the LC200 is sold with the 2.8 diesel.

    That article is therefore bBS

Hahaha... True. But there has to be some truth in it regarding the new diesel. But only time will tell...

Unless Toyota gets new leadership... They have not been in the habit of stressing their motors. I just dont see them squeezing more than 200kw/650Nm from a 3.3l displacement

Regardless of the article there has been plenty of talk of a TDI V6 for the 300 and the power is possible and it will be nice to drive a Cruiser that could give 10km/l (maybe) and the world is changing to more efficient with fewer emissions engines but I will definitely miss the 4.5 V8 Diesel.

    That is a bad photoshop!

Don't they know what the 4 in D-4D stands for? It should be D-6D.

The 4 refers to the valves per cylinder
    The V8 is also a d4d

Never too old to learn. That information is from an information leaflet from 12 years ago when I got my D-4D.

Must have been a Clicks moment in the PR office.

    Thanks Hedgehog.

Yes even the GD6 is referred to as D4D in Australia.

    200kw from a modern V6 diesel is nothing, besides they get 200kw from a 3 cylinder 1.6

That's true. For most other manufacturers other than Toyota.

Something giving 10 Km/l will never be a Cruiser
The days of V8 motors are numbered, so it will be interesting to see what Toyota comes up with in the 300.

I will rather drive a unstressed Toyota than a tdv6! My 2 cents.

Why ¿¿ Do you think they are stoopid?
As I said if they can make 200kw with a three cylinder 1.6 then I think they may be able to do it with a six cylinder 3.3..... don't you?
