True, but they are clever, they don't buy it second hand

But it is still sad that dealers are knowingly supplying the vehicles. With ISIS and the likes operating in our neighbouring country it is a lot less funny.

Now those are two quality second hand buys! Bought by all non-terrorists over the world.

Yup where do you think all the Hilux and Fortuner's stolen in SA goes, there's a big ISIS market in Africa starting with Moz.

Quite a few years ago a friend of mine was working for TSA, back then they estimated that not even 20% of all Hilux and Fortuner's stolen in SA stays in the country, with some digging they found them all over Africa and even oversees.

The question then is, will they sell more diesels or petrols in SA? I am quite surprised by the petrol being more expensive than the diesel.

GX-R pricing is not too bad, reasonable value I think.

I'm actually surprised, I expected it to cost more, I thought it will start around 1.4 mil and the top of the range will brush 2 mil.

Navigation with Tracks for Africa support is a very interesting one, I hope it's a matter of being able to insert your own T4A SD card rather than being a Toyota locked system.

As said earlier in the thread I'm actually still surprised that we are getting the petrol, seeing that the 200 petrol was discontinued in our market a couple of years ago already.

Those fuel consumption specs just looks way too good to be true for a Cruiser.

Some buyers I'm sure will have to make the tough choice between top of the range Prado or entry level 300, there's only a R100k difference.

Very surprising, though the world is phasing out diesel, this is a bit of an anomaly, I guess it will be the more fun car.

if this UAE GXR mid spec is what we get in Africa, thatís good value

Sadly my predictions in post #283 came true. We got hit with 40% Prado tax.

I wished for 20% Toyota tax which would have put the 3.5TT at 1.5M. So at R1.8M we pay 40% more for the 300 than the Middle East. Nice one.

    .
This is launch price, Toyota will have a price increase 1 Jan of at least 5% so you will brush 2bar with addition of extended warranty, rubber mats, towbar etc.

Is it just me, but I really think in today's day and age it is ridiculous to pay more than R1.8 bar for a vehicle with only a three year warranty. I do have a bee in the bonnet when it comes to after sales service. Make no mistake, it is awfully beautiful and seems impeccably specced, but no.

All models feature a 90 000km service plan and a three-year or 100 000km mechanical warranty. Service, maintenance and warranty plans can be additionally extended. (From the news24 report)
Three years warranty, as far as I know, is the lowest on the block, including Land Rover. Best is seven years, ironically including Lexus and Hyundai Santa Fe Elite, with many great features, which comes with 7 year 200 000km warranty at half the price. Just saying.

I think that many complaining about the listed prices of the 300 Series have no intend to buy one. Have read somewhere that something around 90% of the previous 200 Series buyers did pay cash. Expect the same with the 300.
