OK now let's not be very emotional on the argument

Space in the Fortuner same as a 300? Please state your source.

I think that Petrol 300 will be nice.....die Diesel too, but somehow I just always liked a Petrol variant in the 100/200 and now the 300.

I also suspect the diffs in consumption to be not THAT big anymore, not nearly as big as the 4,6 and 4,7 Petrol was vs the V8 Diesel.

Looks like a GREAT car........not crazy about that huge grille, but pics and real life always differs a lot.

What does impress me is that Toyota has retained its pedigree/feel/"tradition" from the 200 to the 300, by the looks of it.

Would very much like to have a spin in one, will ask my DP tjommie at Toyota if the first ones arrive

    I don't understand the fuss about a 300 or 200 being a status symbol.

    1. What makes something a status symbol?
    2. What business is it of person A if person B decides to buy himself a status symbol of any kind?
    3. Can those stuck on 'status symbols' start their own thread so that we can keep this thread to the actual specs, performance, abilities of the 300.

At least it varies from person to person. I was accused by a currently banned person of me driving a double cab bakkie as a status symbol! Imagine!

Well he already made the claim that a Fortuner has more space than a Prado. Turns out he was talking about a Fortuner with rear seats removed vs Prado with rear seats still installed

There seems to be one better from Toyota/lexus as the ultimate over lander

The Lexus LX 201 unfortunately just a concept.

Maybe not that far fetched. The LC 300 will not be exported to the US but they will get the Lexus LX version of the 300 apparently (LX 600).

Hopefully. Since the car is lighter in general too. If the v6 3.5 petrol is not as heavy on juice it will be on my 2nd hand radar by 2025.

The same engine is used in the Lexus LS500 since 2018. In the LS the consumption is between 8.3 and 10.5 km/l in real world mixed driving which is pretty impressive.

The LS weighs 2.1T and the 300 is around 2.5T. If one can get between 7 and 9 in mixed driving it might be a winner.
