Just found this thread and for information:
The 1953-1961 body shape came out as the 100E and 107E, and the panel vans were 300E. (Left hand drive were known as 101E and 301E)
The different bodies were the four door (Prefects), four door Popular (lower spec, but I don't think sold in South Africa), two door (Anglias), panel vans (Thames) and station wagons (Squire and Escort) The squire was the higher spec version of the Escort, with wood trimming on the side.
Engines were the side valve jobbies in all models, except the 107E Prefects. That came in 1960/61 after the Anglia was changed to the 105E slanted back window version. British public still wanted a four door version with the updated drivetrain of the new Anglia, and the 107E was born with the OHV engine and four speed gearbox.
The main differences in them is the dashboard type, grilles and in Prefects rear window size. You also had minor differences on the front and back light surrounds.
As to how many remain, that is a good question. I am aware there is a Squire in Klerksdorp, one in Pretoria and I have two (one sadly too far gone to save). There was also one in Bethlehem area a few years ago, but this may be the same one above. If not, add another to the tally.
And to explain how I know? I have two Anglias, two Squires, One Escort, two Thames , two 107E Prefects, and the rest 100E Prefects of which one was modified as a bakkie.

Had a look at the Sedgefield car. It looks totally original with the exception of the alternator and electric fuel pump added, and the upholstery change. It suggests that it is an Escort however, due to the badge on the back door, and not a Squire. No wood trim etc. That makes it the second Escort I know of. Front bonnet script is missing that says Escort, and the badge on the back is from the later 1968 Mk1 escorts.

Eish I just been offered 2 Morris minors. One has motor and one has motor out and in pieces. They both going to require complete rebuild. I may have to reconsider the deal, as the price is pretty good.
