Default Pretoria - Heavy Duty Canvas Places

    Good day folkses,

I've use a Front Runner Featherlite Roof-top Tent. The last two occasions I've used it, I've been battling with the cover. On my last camping trip at the beginning of the month, it failed catastrophically.

I know I can get a replacement cover from Front Runner, but there have always been a few things that annoyed me about the FR and since I'm going to have to throw money at it to fix it right now, I may as well as use the chance to make some adjustments...

I had most of my canvas work done at a place in Brits up until recently. However, I'm fairly new in Pretoria, and I should probably start working out where the reputable places are to have things done over here.

Those that know, any thoughts about reputable and well-priced places that do this sort of work ? Preferably in the East, but no huge issues if elsewhere in Pretoria.

    Thanks a stack.

Best to contact him soonest. He is very, very busy and normally booked full quite a few weeks ahead. But he will always help and his work is really top class. Guess that is why he is so busy.

Still in town - just moved to Zambesi - After the old-oom / original owner passed away - service has gone very south...

I can highly recommend Andre @ Express Covers in Voortrekkerweg - has done a lot of work for me - will WhatsApp you.

On Garsfontein out at Blesbok street turn right, there was a Rafters do not know whether they still exist after Corona and left at Eland street and just carry on till the street turn right again and there is a cover worx that did a decent job for me and quite reasonable as well. Not far from you

Sean - I've been in touch with a few people. I've first got to get around to removing the cover and measuring it up.

Hoping to get around to that this weekend...

Will post when I've figured the way ahead.

I would highly suggest you take the tent to them, let them do the measurements and make it accordingly. If you measure wrong, then tough luck and money out of pocket, if they measure wrong, then they must fix it.
In fact canvis places I got quotes from in the past insisted on measuring the item themselves.

And I got the T-shirt with fitted sheets custom made for trailer mattresses, they were too big and we had to take them back, this time we took the mattresses as well.

If i may ask what is your experience with the featherlight roof top tent, Have you had any issues with regards to material strength and wind etc.

I have used my tent all over the place. No issues regarding material strength or anything. And it is incredibly waterproof - I have weathered some serious rain with mine.

The wind has only ever bothered me once, but that was my first trip camping on the Namaqua coast. The wind caught the RTT and lifted it up a little. I put a bag of wood on the ladder after that.

Since then, I have two detachable guy ropes that I put on when it looks as if it might be a little windy. They attach on the sides where the velcro straps for fastening the tent when packing up attach.

The only negative thing I have to say about the tent is that the ladder mechanisms get a little difficult to use in sandy conditions.
