I had a V6 Touareg and found the V6 overrated.
I regretted my Touareg V6 purchase and traded in. After all, who needs all this power all the time, 140 to 155 kW is enough.
good thing we are all different!

they say less is more, but you what what? More is More.

I use all 250+kw every day I drive the Q7, in fact at times it could do with a bit more power and thats not even the most powerful car in the driveway.

Personally I dont like bakkies, but if I had to drive one this will be it.

It stops when we stop paying those prices. We create the demand.

That's a lot of money for a Beetle with a bak.

All the bakkie prices will align around that in the new year. So a fully specced Rubicon isn't that bad any more.....

My friendly VW salesman contacted me today, just to let me know they have a blue 190 kw Extreme on the floor and itís available if Iím interested.

So I asked whatís different? Well, he said, it has 25 kw more, tyre pressure monitoring and thatís about it. Next question: Price? Uhm.... One million and eighteen thousand Rand, sir.😱

And how much will you give me on trade in for my spotless 2017 Blue 165kw Extreme with Auto Armadillo and VPS and 51000 km? R470 000, sir.

If I wanted more Kw, Iíll rather pay R3500 for a remap and get more than 190 kw. Makes more sense to me.

For what its worth its not just the amarok suffering such ludicrous trade in values...pretty much every car will suffer its highest depreciation the first 3 years bar maybe the land cruiser 200 . what you will find is keeping another 3 years wont make much difference to the resale value on %...and with new car prices jumping these massive amounts lately the second hand market will follow

I think a nice alternative for mere mortals would be to get a second hand 165kw, then import the Darkside kit. Tune it too 300kw, then de-tune to 250kw, to make you believe you drive a de-tuned vehicle which should give you the mileage.
Get a few mates, and ask the chap to come over for a plaas fakansie.

Mmmhhh. Now to find a second hand V6.

There are already a lot of locally tuned 250kw Amaroks in South Africa, and even at that power the engine is not over stressed. The real issue lies with the auto box. As the kw increases so does the torque, but even more so.

From what I have been told, 800nm is the limit the box will handle reliably, and that number is easily reached / exceeded.

My dad currently has a remapped Amarok with a 76mm full exhaust. It makes around 250kw and 800nm. I have driven it extensively, and the real world overtaking ability is just astonishing. My wife's 3.0D X5 feels lethargic in comparison, especially in the 80-140 range. Once my lease on my current car expires in Sep, I will buy the Amarok from my dad.

It's the first d/cab / suv I have driven that has more than enough overtaking ability when heavily laden, so it will be used as our family vehicle.
