6” ground clearance...... don’t think there gonna be many who get under there ( unless they become a speed bump)

Busy positioning the firewall to check bonnet height..... carbs are gonna be a problem so it looks like I’ll have to go for the Weber 38 DGES conversion and hide it in the spare wheel on the bonnet...
Rob (Hagu13) popped in and confirmed what Johnno said about my “open drive” mounts being too flimsy.....need a separate “mid plate” for the gearbox.
Once again, don’t you just hate it when your “friends” put stupid ideas in your head .....(the worst bit is that you know they’re right)

I have once did a Weber conversion on a 3.5 Rover V8. Milled the stock intake to get rid of the carb runners. Installed an adaptor plate which I tapped and screwed to the manifold.
Easy conversion![]()
It is not what you buy its what you build.
NO! A thousand times, NO!
Philistine.
Put power bulges in your bonnet if you have to, but keep it original.
Something like this...
Besides, how will you see over a spare wheel on the bonnet with your arse nearly on the ground?
You need to hang the spare in front like the SAS pink Panthers used to, in place of a bumper...

I was waiting for you to see that bit.....
Original pic had a spare wheel on the bonnet ( wrong rim size & tread....)
I was just thinking “outta the box”, besides, you look “around” the spare![]()

Weber also make side drafts for a lower profile...might be time to think about fuel injection, but then you'd need an ECU and MAF.
Renault Duster 4WD Gen1: No Meow, GC = 254mm, WD = 820mm
That on an MGB V8 manifold, maybe.
or, just relocate the SUs, but those manifolds had a rep for being even more restrictive on an already partially strangled set-up.
Mmmm, injection....
a cool GBP 3 995.00.....

That’s too much for an asthmatic 3.5 V8.......
Besides, that’s gonna cost $$$ - remember, I’m working with what’s available
Pity Lake Pipes aren't legal, but that diameter looks like it will handle a monster motor.
Renault Duster 4WD Gen1: No Meow, GC = 254mm, WD = 820mm
Those pipes would work nicely on my 6,5 GMC diesel....

Maybe spice it up a bit![]()

Tagging along... Want to really do something like this some day when my son is older
At least it's got a British motor
