    Question Butchery Suggestions?

    Hi All

Looking for butchery suggestions between Cape Town and Tankwa. I like to buy my meat on the road, it makes a good rest-stop and a chance to meet the locals.

Feel free to hijack the thread and post your favourite travel butcheries if you have any.

Two of my favourites are The Stadium Butchery in Port Elizabeth (awesome chicken sosaties) and Hooikraal just outside Heidelburg on the N2 (been going here for jonks before they had a restaurant, excellent biscotti and rusks also).

    Thanx

Just remembered another favourite Biltong Deli in Middelburg EC. They will cut your Karoo lamb tjops to your desired thickness, also awesome sosaties.

    Interesting.
I farmed outside Middelburg for a number of years and never heard if them.

If you know them, by all means, but you could also try Sterkfontein Slaghuis in Middelburg.

Thanks, will give them a go next time I am up in that part of the world. Biltong Deli used to be opposite the police station in the main drag directly next to Hi-Q but subsequently moved. No idea how long they have been operating, first trip was about five years ago.

Dunlop Tyres was innie same building.
The owner, Klein Koppie, pushed the rent up so much over past few years they could not keep up.

This is too close for the OP but I’ll mention it anyway. Eatwell meats in Tygervalley.
The best wors and lamb I have had yet. It’s a bit out of the way for me but I stock up there about 4 times a year.

Thank you for this. Now tried and tested my side.

I got pork belly kebabs in awesome marinade, chicken thighs, steak (sirloin) and biltong.

There's something I am forgetting I think, however, everything was top notch.

Prices not dissimilar to Cape Town, but the quality is definitely better.

What I was forgetting was the four lamb loin tjops. They were awesome too.
