Default I'm too dumb for my smart TV

Yesterday morning, my TV notified me that it has updates waiting, sure enough I allow the updates.

The TV came with the DSTV app pre-installed. After the updates, the dstv app isn't working properly.

You can access the app, log in, see the shows and channels, but when selecting a show or channel, it gives you the "something went wrong" error, "try again later"

I've contacted DSTV, but it being run by South africans, i'm sure you can imagine the replies and head scratching im getting on the other line.
I'm now waiting for a reply from LG.

Any suggestions? I've restarted the tv, logged in and out etc .... due to it being pre-installed, i cant delete the app and then re-install it again.

Their app is very problematic, and sometimes it is off for a while. I have it on my tv box as well, and usually when I want to watch it has some bloody error.

The app is working 100% though, via my chromecast .... so can't be the app me thinks.

There's no reason DSTV would be able to help you, it's a TV problem, not a DSTV problem. Try going to Menu, click on Smart TV, click on Delete Viewing History, delete viewing and video history, then try again. Otherwise simply reinstall the apps, also off the main menu. If that doesn't work, take the TV back and tell them to sort it out. That's about as far as my very limited tech knowledge goes (works for us on our old model Samsung Smart TV).

    Yes certified.

Tried updating the firmware too, tv does not allow it. Everything is a hassle in this country when calling call centers.

Go to the settings menu and do a factory reset on the TV it will load the old version of the apps it had on when you bought it.

Had similar issues on hissense smart tv. One would expect a seamless online support service for an online smart tv, but alas it was an old School usb update that resolved it? They mailed the files, and i had to us a specific usb port for the update.

Like with most technology items nowadays, the error messages are uslessly non-descriptive and support is somewhat old fashioned shooting in the dark.
