Default Vehicle for my Parents - R100k Budget

So my dad sold his aging 2005 Corsa Diesel which was starting to cost us major money with close to 300k on the clock.

My sister and I want to help him out so they can have something reliable that's not going to break the bank.

Something with some creature comforts like A/C and powersteering.
Budget is around R100k and will be a cash deal.

Preferably looking for something newish with sub-100k Mileage.

    Definately don't want a #####box like a Kwid/ GO, which seems to be a dime a dozen.

    Looking for some recommendations?

Current options is pointing to a 2013-2016 Figo. But asking here incase I am missing another sensible option?

Things like ViVo's have stupid kilos on within our budget.

Yes Polo's are quite valuable, on the other hand not too expensive to maintain.

My humble (biased) opinion? Stay away from anything French and you're Golden.

I have a nice Renault Logan for sale.

Sold as is, running. Some hail damage. There is also some clear coat still visible. License up to date.

Offers above R20k will be accepted.

Last year we where lucky enough to pick up an older low mileage Polo for just over R100k. We test drove many different cars but the condition and price was right. Services and parts are cheap.

They are out there, just need to find them

What creature comforts do you get in a Vivo? They are definitely not creature comfort cars.

Have you looked at some suzuki's? I don't really know their prices and stuff, but maybe worth a try.

Maybe even the Haval H1? good value for money cars those as far as I am considered.

I would add the Kia Rio and Hyundai i20 into the mix as well. Maybe even the Suzuki Baleno.

I am looking for something in similar price for my Mom (turning 80 in October), but I want something with an automatic gearbox to assist her with driving.

The Honda Jazz or Brio and Kia Picantos seem to tick the boxes. Some are available with low km's in the price range you are looking for.

I've had 2 Picanto's and they are awesome, but I wouldn't want them in automatic. Brother's stepdaughter has one. It has a serious problem with hills...

Cant go wrong with a Figo. Vivo also good but high on the theft / highjack list

Good choice well assembled cars by trained Japanese.

Honda Jazz also a good choice.

Today exactly 5 years ago I bought my parents an Auto Forester for just over a R100k.
Kilos were high(about 130000km) and it is heavy on fuel, but they love it.
Easy to get in and out with higher seating position, super reliable, nice poke off the line, lots of space when they do decide to venture on holiday with my uncle and aunt, and ground clearance mean they can take all the little gravel roads when they want to go game watching.
Surely not for all but worked out perfectly for my parents.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
Will add the swift and Jazz to my search criteria. Though the Honda's were expensive to maintain? A work friend's wife has one, and he said services are crazy expensive.

Down in good ol slaapstad the used cars a quite a bit more expensive than up country.
Have a big webuycars here close to my house, but I've heard horror stories of people buying from them.

It's a really difficult price range. My best bet would be to find someone trading a car, as a dealer will give them like 30k lower than what they'll sell the cars for. But that's difficult to find.

I once test drove one, and it was great. Only reason I didn't take it was a suspicious engine light burning. Just keep in mind, cambelt change every 100k km and it is apparently quite a costly exercise (back then R16000)

Make a short list of what you want and then keep going through the online marketplaces, Gumtree, Autotrader, FB marketplace etc on a daily basis. And when you see that bargain you have to be quick and first in line.

I bought a 2015 Swift privately with extended warranty for less than R100k after searching for about 2 weeks.
