    Default I need help choosing

    1) Raptor
    2) Hilux GR-S - We can scratch this one now because they are now unavailable (Updated 17/08/2020)
    3) Amarok V6

I do off road, I do overland with a heavy trailer, but I do overland without one often.

Those are all great, but the Raptor may need to be scratched (as good as it is). In raptor form payload drops to 518kg and towing to 2500kg max. You sound like you may be pushing those limits. So unless you change the suspension, which is the very thing that makes it special, then I don't think the raptor is the right vehicle here.

Your money, go drive all 3 and then decide.

Too many fanboys around which will only give you biased opinions.

If it were my money though. Amarok V6....

I read somewhere that it's payload is 750kg? Did you know that the Hilux 4x4 Dc's payload is only 810kg?

Yea, I've also read conflicting reports on the raptor payload. But I saw one in person towing a BL caravan and it was did not look right (tail down and nose up).

Very few of the "1ton" bakkies are true one tonners. I think the Amarok is one of them.

But if the raptor really is 518kg then realistically add 4 passengers (350kg) and a caravan down weight of 80kg and you are near the limit.

I don't know the Raptor so can't comment.

In the beginning of the year I bought a GD6 2.8 and quite frankly not very impressed. I think you have to have a V6 Amarok just once, but then you're part of the "dub club"

    https://www.ford.co.za/commercial/ra...at-4x4-hr-FAF/

If i look at that brochure I see how the 750kg comes about. If you add the weight of a driver and 80L fuel then you get to 750. So many technicalities in these things and all the manufactures are slightly different.

Easy solution, take your trailer with when you test the ranger and then decide
