Voor hulle kan op, moet bakkie eers n 3” suspension lift en ander diff ratios ook kry. 37” pas nie sommer net in nie.

I had a very good look at Radar Renegades a month ago. Unfortunately I could not find reviews which gave a clear expected tyre life.

Will keep my eyes on this thread.

I have the R7 M/T's on my vehicle. They have now done 32000km's and I reckon I would get another 30k usable km's out of them. I saw an oom at the carwash last week with the RT+ on his ford ranger. They do a fair amount of overlanding and a lot of dirt and vehicle is loaded and kitted as such permanently. His tyres had just over 42000km and I was very impressed by the tread still left on them. No sidewall damage whatsoever. Very small cuts on the tread itself. They had just returned from Ais-Ais. No punctures as yet and I would guess at least another 40k on them.

So i have an issue, cant Get Grabber X3's in the country and i need to replace 2 tyres asap, so thinking of replacing all tyres with the Radars, the prices are very good for 2 ply tyres.

Just wondering which tyres to choose from... R7 or RT+. Strangely enough the R7 (mud) is R250 cheaper per tyre. Both are 3 ply.

    Hi

It depends on the use of your vehicle. I'm running the R7 muds currently on my Amarok. Their performance on tar is a lot better than expected and I can honestly say better than my BF's in the wet. Dirt, rocks, mud etc, they speak for themselves. For the price they have outperformed my BF's, I will probably get around 65k km on them. Which is not bad for a M/T. I actually bought them for a second set of mags, I put them on for a long trip and never bothered taking them off. My 19's are still gathering dust.

Negatives: they are heavy and the standard M/T road noise.

I cannot comment on the RT+, but it is a tyre I am also looking at. I will need to replace in December before a trip in the vehicle.

    Thanks for this. Very helpful.

Still a bit torn - i have MT's and the noise doesn't bother me in the least. The car inst used daily anymore, its just for trails and over landing. The RT seem to almost look as good as the MT's though. Tough decision.

    They certainly look good.

Which mud terrains did you have fitted previously? I'm very interested to know, especially when you say how much quieter these are than the muds. A guy I met the carwash a few weeks back also mentioned the difference in sound.

So these are the tyres I have had. BF's (came with car, they were not my favourite), Dunlop Trackgrip (scary in the wet), Powertrac AT, Dunlop MT2 (endless balancing issues), Hankook AT (basically destroyed them on first offroad) and lastly General Grabber X3.

My favourite were the Grabbers, if I could get the tyre I would not have replaced them, still loads of life. They were excellent in wet, and were not that noisey for MT's, obviously as they wore and had chips taken out they got louder, I hadn't realised how loud they were once I took them off. Offroad they were brilliant.

The Renegades though, are as quite as anything I have used. They may get louder as they wear, but on the way home I had the windows open and I can't here them, just the desiel engine and exhaust now. It's like having normal AT's.

I also changed my size back to a 245/75/16 from the 265/70/16 (same diameter). The wider tyres look nicer, but the Bakkie drives better with the 245's.

Awesome, thanks for the response. I actually think I remember reading about some of your other tyre woes on another thread a while back.

Ya I change tyres a lot.

Hoping that I won't for a while now. Saying that, if I could have got a X3 I wouldn't have changed.

Oh something else to mention, they balanced very easily. And I have Aline steel rims, notoriously hard to balance.
