    Default Load/cross bars for KB6

    Hey guys,

Does anyone have any ideas on where to get roof tracks and load/cross bars for the Isuzu KB6?

Frontrunner only do a full roof rack for the Isuzu. I don't know why they don't do load bars for them like they do for other vehicles. I could perhaps use the cross bars from another frontrunner kit but would still need to find roof rails/tracks.

I know Thule is an option but I want to mount a rooftop tent for overlanding and was advised against Thule by the tent manufacturer. Thule is fine for normal use but not really for 1000's km on bad roads with a RTT on top apparently.

I want to try avoid paying ~R10K for a full roof rack and then more on top of that for a compatible mount kit when I only need 2 cross bars to mount the tent on with the standard mounts.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

    Cheers guys!

Can you not buy the feet that front runner uses? Because you can get the aluminium bars with the grooves in that are used for roofracks separately, then you just attach those to the feet? They have a slot in them for attachment. Frontrunner also sells them.

As Louis pointed out it seems front runner only sell complete sets. I was very surprised by this, I thought it would be really easy to just get the feet and cross-bars but apparently not.

Ironman in Alberton at one stage mentioned that he was gonna copy the feet and get sets cut.

    Maybe try them too

I have a set of cross bars and feet. They came off a quantum, got them from a friend and I mounted them on my canopy. You can definitely buy the bars separately have you tried 4x4 direct or Safari center? I think he got them there.

The Thule ones will do for a temp measure. We did a 6000km road trip with our rooftop on the Thule bars. But, long term we are going to go with load bars. Bummer is they have to remove the current silver rails to put a mount kit on for the load bars. Also means headliner coming off to fit if I understood correctly.

Hi Doug, they were black loadbars, not sure of the brand. Supplied and fitted by a 4x4 fitment store. They were about R3k fitted with brackets.

Just for interest Eezi-Awn make roof bars for the KB6 so that is the direction I am going in. (bolt on tracks, mounts and cross bars)

4x4Direct who were recommended by fishing1 do universal load bar kits which are cheaper but I thought I would go with something designed for the Isuzu and 4x4Direct said I needed 3 cross bars to safely carry the tent and I do not want to buy more mounts.
