    Hi Jackero

I am one of the forum members who never posts, but absolutely enjoy listening and learning from all the knowledge on this forum, this is my go to reading in the evenings.
However I find your post so close to home I have/want to post, we were faced with the same decision in 2017, we wanted a off road capable caravan, but without the fold out bed option, and had to sleep 4 people.
As you are aware all have pros and cons, so I decided to design and build my own caravan, I have seen and heard all the stories about the pitfalls of this approach, but fun together as a family and happiness is difficult to put into a balance sheet.
Unfortunately these things all start out seeming very simple and end up taking four times as long to get to some state of completion, they are in reality never complete.
Long story, we built ours and have not stopped enjoying it and having fun ever since.
I have taken the liberty of attaching a story w.r.t this which I have shared with some members here.

    Good luck

    Donnie

Look at the Gecko, king size double bed, all you do is push up the roof. Off road, shower and toilet as well

    Hi Landy

You are correct, no fridge, wanting to keep the roof height as low as possible for towing meant the fridge could not necessarily go under the bed and it was difficult to accommodate it elsewhere.
So one of the compromises was that the fridge had to go in the tow vehicle, also helped slightly with the down force on the tow ball.
I have heard, that if you are a light sleeper, the constant switching of a fridge can be annoying, although I cannot vouch for this.

Gaan kyk gerus na die RAASBLAAR wa ook. Mens slaap binne in die wa, 'n ekstra stort en aantrek kamer kan aan die kant opslaan en die wa se prys is baie kompeterend.

I have had an Invader Duo for 2 years now and am extremely happy with it. The bed stays made all the time.
We have been all over the place with it, including extremely rough terrain in Gonarazou in Zimbabwe
