    Default Mals next tjor.

I am as confused as a "verkleurmannetjie" (Cameleon) on a smarty box.

    Budget is around R 175k

    4x4
    Capable
    Comfortable

High on my list is RRS v8 or tdv8 around 2010.

Petri's Patrol if he does decide to sell it

Land cruiser 100 around early 2000

If anybody see a gem or bargain, please let me know

Which is the best engine in the Patrol 4.8 or 4.5

Which is the best v8 in the Landrover or Range Rover.

I will be following with interest.

    What is your daily kms?

    I got a 105 4500 efi recently for 150k.
But had to sort out a few things, lets call it 160k to get to a happy place.

Nice drive, not very fast, around 5km/l

Not sure what the maintenance on the older RR will be, perhaps consider a late model P38 as well.

    Hi Jean

That 105 sounds like a bargain.

Yes maintenance on the Landrover based vehicles will most probably be higher than the Toyota or Nissan equivalent.

A nice D4 v8 or so sounds great value.

I think your best bet is to ask Petri to look for something. He always manages to find the one in a million from somewhere.

You can’t use the word “best” with a Land Rover or Range Rover.

I am slightly confused what you are looking for.

I understand that the 105/Patrol are natural competitors, but the LR's you mention are a different thing altogether.

That make a Hemi Jeep VERY fuel efficient.

    I said I'm confused.

I admire the big tough Toyota/ Patrol vehicles. But can I live with them day to day? I have no idea.

I also think they are overpriced. A 1998 Patrol costs the same as a 2010 Range Rover Sport.

Both will get me from A to B both will be able to go off road.

Why not look at a Pajero DiD 3.2?

I'm confused after that list as well

I'd say chuck the Treg in there, good value for money 2nd hand.

But this may be a bargain if space is not a huge issue. https://www.cars.co.za/for-sale/used...trand/6210477/ It will tick all the similar boxes to in terms of comfort to your Rok, cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, go anywhere off-road, fun and very reliable. But a bit heavy on juice if you drive it like you stole it.

    That looks awesome!

I would take it to someone like Peter from overlandworx (IIRC) to give it a clean bill of health before pulling the trigger.
