Default Arrowhead Ski : Cleanup, Mods, etc etc etc (Pics)

So.........I bought this little boat earlier this Year. Little Arrowhead Ski with 40 Yamaha Enduro.

This was up for sale, but I decided to keep it as a little fishing (Katse/bass/etc etc) Boat, but to just give it a nice little cleanup.

Anyone has a similar Arrowhead?? I'm looking for inspiration.

So far we've stripped the interior, I'm looking at a more "open" layout, but also very simple and "fishable".

Deck and available space is HUGE...............

    Ham - VERY nice!!!

I'm thinking of only 2 benches, 1 front and one aft, almost the full width - want as much "standing" space as possible, also to load a cooler and/or baitbox/tackle box etc etc.

Also want to give it a bit of colour..........but worried about vinyl coming off, especially on the hull (below the "cab line")

Maar ja.........blank canvas, VERY nice little boat, engine and all other basics are 100%, so I'm gonna "customise" this for us.

Stripped, made 2 frames for benches. Still deciding between 2 straight benches or a "T" layout.

Will clad with alu chequered plate, and nice tough seats.

Also busy making an engine cover for the little Yammie.

This is the 2 Bench Forward Layout......nice, I think this would work better than a "T", more deck space for bassing, and especially more rear seating for Katse Dam with trolling spinners:

"T" Layout - also nice, looks cool, but we're losing "center" deck space, and stuff like cooler and bait boxes will then always have to be on a "side", not lekker with weight distribution:

40 Yamaha Enduro 2 Cylinder.......starts with a flick of the key.

Will get a service kit, and I've sent the cowl to Tentco for a nice cover - cowl's paint is old, but respraying an outboard cowl is a big no no for me, and those original Enduro stickers, at R 1222,87, even a bigger one.

Very nice, personally I like the T option but understand the space issue, how are you fixing the benches to the deck?

Progress.........doesnt look TOO bad I think. Decided on the 2 Bench Forward layout, just much more floor space that way. Sealed off the alu plate with loads of silicone, it must also be sealed off under the frames with something robust and water tight.
And to prevent that alu plate rattling at idle speed........been there got the t shirt

Ham......ja, must say that T layout still also seems like a good option, but we'll see how the forward bench works......SO easy to change again, only 4 screws.

I attached the frames with "dak skroewe", after first sealing it underneath with thick (12mm) rubber strips and silicone. Those screws seem to work well, the floor isnt 100% flat, so screws worked better to give it some "play". The boxes/benches should also now be reasonably water (splash) proof.

Still need to upholster the 2 benches, fit hinges, etc etc. The canvas bankie is just temporary. Seating is quite high, but nice height for fishing.

Also got quite a bit of marine carpet left, will maybe use some between the benches.

But coming along nicely, we'll try take it for a spin this weekend.......stil need to service that Yammie, too.

Battery and fuel tank also fits snugly in the rear bench, no sliding around etc etc.

Cables/pipes also shortened, just need some grommets where they go into the alu plate.

Came out OK thus far I think........we'll have to go and use it and finally decide what still needs to be done.

We had one for years, also without the "cabin" and used it on the Duiwenhoks river extensively. Those cathedral hulls are so stable to fish off on the river.

Looks great, I assume the battery and tank are in separate enclosures?

    Petri

As far as the outboard signage goes, any decent signage place can make an exact copy of those stickers nowadays. I have seen it being done several times before. May be an option.

Ham yes, I'll definitely separate those 2, the battery also has a cover on it. I usually sommer cover the fuel tank with a piece of PVC too, just to make sure.

Had a cheapie PVC cowl cover made by Tentco, padded it with thick foam, engine runs super soft now.

I'll just get some printing done in it next week, "YAMAHA" with those red and grey stripe decals.

Then get those benches upholstered, and maybe do some nice wrapping decals on the hull to just liven things up a little.

New steering wheel should also be here tomorrow

But coming along nicely(ish).......will take it for a spin, and see if it floats

New steering, and steering box serviced etc etc.

Just waiting for the upholstered bankies now, doing them in PVC.

Then for some small cosmetic stuffies..........will see whats what there.

This is actually on a wrong Forum, Mods if you want to move it to "Boating" I'd appreciate it - only if possible.

Will put some sealer on them Duncan.....but we'll have it completely upholstered, even on the insides (die onderkant). Have done it on a previous bootjie and it worked quite well

Remember well my youth..made a speedboat with stepped hull, very fancy.
Decided to add an extra knee on the transom and forgot to seal a tiny spot.
Sold the boat after a few months and watched new owner launch at Zeekoivlei. Motor and transom fell off.
Stamped out my braai fire and went home
