Default Inter provincial travel to second property

I've searched high and low and cannot seem to find a clear answer.

We have a family property near Hoedspruit with some building work happening at the moment, we reside in Johannesburg. We need to go and inspect etc. as my in laws are in the high risk category and are limiting travel. None of the regulations stipulate what documentation is valid or required for this. The only item clearly stated is that the affidavits stamped by the police are not valid.

We will have to take the kids with us as well since we don't have supervision for them.

If anyone has done something similar recently the assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I did all my travels with what is called "Form 6" downloadable from the web. Got it signed and stamped at the police station. My neighbour who works at Police head office as a law expert reckons it is all you need.

I've gone through a couple of road blocks and never had to produce the paperwork. They checked my drivers licence and wanted to know where I am from and where I am going. That's it. I've travelled to North west, Limpopo and Mpumalanga with no issues.

If the building contractor is registered, they can provide a letter stating the reason for the visit and a copy of their CIPC certificate.

we did, just went to cop shop, told them we had to go and inspect property after the big storm a couple of weeks ago.

had to provide proof of residence for both properties and id's, best have these copied beforehand as the cop shop did not have paper to do so.

got forms, crossed the provincial border, forms were inspected only one way with zero problems.

i think an reasonable excuse for travelling will get you the form and with a form in hand the roadblock is not going to send you back

Some house owners at our holiday place are outside Gauteng. SWAMBO (company secretary) has given written proof of the property ownership and owners do get permits to cross the provincial borders.

Please adhere to all requirements in terms of whatever permission you need - but I travel weekly between KZN and Gauteng and have yet to see a roadblock checking anyone, anywhere (I have an essential whatever permit). The flow of traffic can at best be described as normal.

During Level 5 of lockdown I obtained permission to return to KZN from the Free State with my wife, 3 teenagers (and 2 Schnauzers). At the roadblock just past Sterkfonteindam I was taken to task by a police officer as to why my 3 children were all in the 2 nd row, and not spread to the jump seats in the back of the MUX. Never once was I asked to produce any paperwork. And I think if I showed my cars service book I would have been ok, if asked.

So, I am not saying break the law - and please do not - I am saying in my experience there is zero implementation of regulations.

May be different between other provinces.

I agree with what Jaco said. I would not travel without the paperwork even if they have never checked it.

Actually there might be one or two houses on sale or actually one share that allows you to have a house. There are huge cost savings. Very minimal laundry bill
