    Default 2011 Navara Questions

Hi all, who in Northern suburbs knows these vehicles for an inspection report or opinion etc,

Also Im looking at purcashing a king cab 4x4 2.5 2011 model 190k ish km looks like an honest clean bakkie.

What build is this spanish spec? output power, torque, typical fuel consumption
What sort of issues does these bakkies have or what to look out for currently and in future.
Are they reliable something to go to 300k plus km.
Hows the spares prices at the dealers, i will service it myself with the OEM parts.

I know they dont have the DMF clutch as opposed to the DC.

Its a well priced vehicle and suits my needs over a hilux xtra cab which is 80k more than the navara.
Im not looking for a hobby just a reliable cab and a half.

    Thanks in advance

Well I'm in the northern suburbs and will be happy to go view the vehicle with you for an opinion but I'm no expert. Apart from a radiator leak in December, our 2010 Navara has been absolutely faultless. I think this 2.5 engine is one of the most reliable built.

My understanding is the clutch issue was sorted on models post 2008 or thereabout so that should not be a problem. I guess it does come down to how the owner drove it.

I can answer a few of your questions based on our experience:

    - We get about 10 to 11 l/100km on our DC. That is with canopy and AT tyres.
    - I don't think these bakkies have any specific common flaws and any problems will be more the result of how well looked after the vehicle is.
    - I don't think spares are particularly expensive but I buy parts from Midas for the annual service (which I also do myself).

One correction to my previous post. The one window switch did pack up but I replaced it myself with a second hand part from Eezy Motors in Strand and it's working fine again.

Reenen knows these vehicles well if you want to check with him.

Thanks for the reply Musashi, I had a look at a few actually to feel how they feel.
They seem to be quite reliable.
The dealer did inform me the fuel regulator valve tends to give issues and the plastic sides on the intercooler tends to crack, they just replace it with a complete alu unit.

Other than that, good bakkie, looks like im gonna pull the trigger,

I did notice the navara's tend to have bit of a engine whine when driving, seems to be normal.
    Otherwise lekker comfy bakkie.

I have a 2010 king cab with 117 000km. Mine is a 4x2 and I have had mine for 5years now. The xe and se models is thai spec and LE is spain. The thai spec have a brake light on the back of the cab also. But mine was a plaas bakkie and is one again now. So it works hard I have had only alternator problems and leaking clamp on my top hose op the raidiator. My turbo does make a whoo sound sometimes due to that there is a dint on the turbos ampeler but other than that it has no problems. OEM parts is not that of Toyota but you can find everything you need. I service with Donaldson filters only for the last 3 years now. My fuel consumption is between 8.5km/l to 10km/l but I have Tralies and an ARB on

My dad has a 2015 Kingcab 4x4 with about 150000km. It's been faultless. What I like about it is how it feels on the road. I drive a 2012 Hilux 3.0 d4d 4x4 (company car) and the Navara is way more comfortable. Just my opinion. Personally I don't see why you should spend so much more for the Hilux. Exactly why I bought a Navara 9 years ago and still drive it. I have no preference for a specific brand (previous bakkie was Hilux SC but I needed double cab) and test drove everything I could get my hands on. Navara was way back then unbeatable in terms of stability, comfort and power. Today the D40 model is still competitive in these areas.

Thanks guys, I bought the bakkie nice and comfortable ride, perfect daily vehicle for me.

What I did find out that ´njecter rattle"is normal on these YD25 engines, drove a 2016 model and it had the same sound as my 2011.
But it goes away once warmed up to temperature.

Nice solid on the road and moves nicely with that 400newtons ; ).

Just needs a set of tyres.

Im happy with the bakkie, was very skeptical at first (is my first vehicle outside the Toyota stable) but so far very very happy : )

PS if you know of any plastic/rubber type nudgebars around Im looking for one.

9.7km per liter thats not bad at all and thats with 265/75/16 and ironman suspension, might increase abit when i replace the tyres with BF's.

Some squeaks here and there but nothing hectic its mos a bakkie after all.
Just a squeak when i close the doors that i need to find.

The body tends to flex on the King Cabs and then the door rubbers of the suicide doors tend to squeak against the bodywork. It's worth greasing all the rubbers with a coating of silicone grease, this eliminated some strange noises that I was struggling to pinpoint on my King Cab.

thanks Skylark, I actually have a tin of that will try it tonight.

On the engine cover I will be using rubber plumbing washers to quiet it down.

Just on the doors, is it normal for the front doors to be loose when opening, is there a way to tighten them?
