Default Toyota Full Inspection - R980

As per my thread on vehicle prep for overlanding I am looking to identify issues requiring attention. I thought it best to start with a thorough fact finding exercise.

I understand Toyota offers a comprehensive inspection service at above price- does anyone have the list of things they cover? More specifically I need to understand if the inspection covers:
    1. Shocks & Coils
    2. injector function
    3. Oil seals
    4. drive shafts
    5. suspension bushes and ball joints
    6. Wheel bearings
    7. etc

Well, I'd probably stick around and watch them as a Toyota dealer in JHB's South saw fit to perform my Prado's 80 000 km service on the wash bay.

Seems the 80 point check is more an eye-ball test than a technical assessment. Basically they check all the abvious things, oil leaks, fanbelt condition, funny noises, brake pads&discs etc.

I will not take it in but rather spend one saturday with Mr. Haynes under the bonnet. The knowledge I gain from going over all the important bits and doing some maintenance myself doesnt hurt either...

Rather send it to a trusted mechanic if anything.

Same price as the DEKRA inspection, and I'd trust Toyota more............

Didnt get the warm and fuzzy from the Toy guys with reponses like:

Me: "can I bring my car in for the 80 point inspection please? What is included in the inspection, do you have a list of things you check for that you can send me?

Service guy: "yes sir, its a bumper to bumper check!"

Me: "thanks, but can you send me the list of things you check so I can see if it meets my expectations? I need .... checked"

Service guy: "no sir we do not have a list"

Me: "thought you said its a 80 point check?"

Service guy: "yes sir, we check it bumper to bumper. If you need anything specific please put it on the job card"

At this point I was convinced I am probably talking to a bot, who then promptly referred me to his foreman.

Also not convinced with the answer from the foreman (they dont test the injectors or shocks, but they do check for damage, leaks, suspension wear etc.) I decided to take it to a specialist shop with a decent suspension diagnostics machine to take the human opinions out of the equation. Should get to a hiQ or Dekra in the next few days for that... thanks for the input
