Default Day trip photo destinations near PE

    Hi guys

I'm looking for day trip destinations (ideally about 100km from PE but not more that 200km) where I can go for a day with family, take a flat pack braai, have a nice lunch and come home in the afternoon. Something scenic, preferably secluded (ie. minimal traffic)....please post some pics of your suggestions if possible.

The scenic and popular Grootrivierpoort via Steytlerville is still nice. Enjoying a nice lunch at The Royal Hotel is always a pleasure.

    Thanks Rebel

My first idea was the banks of Kouga River on the Rust-en-Vrede route (belongs to Ragelsrivier)...but I am looking for more places like this

You can try out the VAN STADENS FLOWERS RESERVE, about 30km towards JBAY, take the old Van Stadens pass turnoff, (not the mouth turnoff) and about 1km to your right is the entrance. It is free to enter. Lots of scenery and walking trails as well. No Pets allowed.

If we can keep this thread alive, it will be great. We always searching for quick day trips.

Thanks, that's a nice one. Is that a little dam there in the reserve? I haven't been there since we hiked through the reserve on a school camping trip

Edit: Are we allowed to light a fire there if done responsibly?

You can check it out at http://www.vanstadens.co.za/

Yes, just before you go over the N2 there is a little dam to your right. Very shallow. Might be more water after the rain of this week.

They have dedicated braai area`s available, But we had a braai with the Bridge in the background on our little fold away braai and no one had any issues with it.

The long walking trail takes about 2hours to complete.

Addo braai areas are still closed.
Baviaans is open, can drive through the kloof and braai at Smitskraal after the water crossing.
