Looks like a nice spot. Campsites look well spaced out according to their website.

Do you mean 9 different threads? Surely that would make it more complicated.

    Mods will know best.

Hartbeeshoek. Just across the road from Dube outside Brits in NW. There are only a few with private ablution. Self drive game viewing. Nice and quiet place.

This is a good idea, however we will need some structure for the information to be easily accessable. Then people will find it useful and if they find it useful they will contribute and the thread will grow. If members have to wade through pages and pages of fluff, the thread will die I am afraid.

I think it will be fine to have all provinces in one thread, but we should have other ground rules like only SA maybe? And only info, no chats or questions. Make it a sticky which mods can monitor and delete posts to keep it clean and simple (sorry Dirk)

Then also a fixed format for each post like for instance as below; deviate from the format and post gets removed like some of the stickys in the motor section:

    Establishment name
    Province
    Nearest town
    How many stands
    How far apart
    Electricity
    Activities offered
    The good (if any)
    The bad (if any)

Personally prefer sites with no power. The less light the better, and ideally no cellphone signal too

A lot more places would be added without having the contact details or how many stands or doing a review as names come up of places from friends without one being there to do a full review. I belief one can Google to get the details if one knows the name of the place and the province.

Sorry to urinate on this battery, but to facilitate the upkeep and keeping info current is a massive task. If it were feasable existing outlets will have done so long ago.
I cannot see it happening for 4x4 and offroad needs. For caravaners, yes, but they do not even have access to such info.

An excellent on line global camping guide targeting overlanders is ioverlander.com It was started some years ago by a South African girl and two American overlanding friends (we met them in south America in 2012 and contribute to the site) and currently lists over 2000 mainly campsites as well as a few other useful locations such as workshops, eating places etc just in SA alone. It is contributed to and updated with dates visited by other overlanders whenever they stop off and stay at somewhere to camp and provides the GPS location, altitude in some cases, the facilities and any activities offered, pricing in a good many cases, whether the site is accessible by big rigs, and very often photos of the place and its surroundings. Click and zoom in on the world map to find sites. They also have an app for your phone. Check it out.

    Hello

You can visit mountainpassessouthafrica website and in the "find a pass" you can also find a caravan park. I shows the whole South Africa map with icons you can click on and it will give park details

    I trust it will help
