    Default SARS Questions

I need some help with my SARS return:

    1. I have 4 Tax Free Investments according to SARS, but I only have one and SARS already has it on my form. I can't file because it want's the details of the other 3.(All the fields are empty and red)
This happened after I refreshed the data.

    2. Until 2003 I had a field on my IRP5 for medical(4005), since then it has disappeared. I pay medical monthly and it's deducted by my employer. If I enter the information, then I get more back than I paid. So that clearly doesn't seem right. Did the legislation change?

    3. All my policies, except one, are deducted on my pay sheet, so that makes tax easier. The one that is deducted from my bank account is a Global balanced fund. Now I've never had to pay SARS after filing my return, but in the last 3 years I've started to pay. Now it's a small amount, started with R30, but it's steadily increasing and I don't want to sit with a problem in a few years time.I only get one income. How can I see what is causing this on my tax, so that I can know how to manage it?

I'm no tax guru but I have always done my own tax successfully and helped quite a few guys with theirs.

At the top of the return is where you make your selections (in essence create your return). Isn't there a section where you can change the number of tax free savings accounts?

It also does not make sense that you have to pay in if you have extra retirement contributions that is paid after salary (from you bank account).

If I change the amount of tax free savings the block turn red. It doesn't accept my input.

Most probably I will have to contact them.

The annuities are deducted from my pay sheet so that tax is already sorted.
If I break even I'm happy but apparently that is changing.

Sorry to hijack this thread. My dad has been "unemployed" for many years now. My mom passed away last year and now one of the policies needs a tax number of my dad to do a payout. He has no idea what is tax number is. Any idea where I can get this except at a SARS office? Thanks

If he once had employment, and still has an old payslip or pension note, the tax number should be on that

If it was this easy, I would not have asked. My dad lives for today and there is no payslips etc of the sorts in his possession.

Ja, the first day I did it I was a bit negative about it.
Just finished with them. Ask for a callback on the "help efile" on the efile website.
I waited 10min, they phoned and helped.

Struggled a bit as my problem couldn't be fixed by them, but she gave me a "loophole".
So most probably I will be audited, no worries.

    Default SARS Questions

Just tried this also. No matching details. And the person that I knew at SARS is also not with SARS anymore. Will ask that if he gives permission to make the payment into my account with my details if they will accept that.

Or just tell them that he has no tax number. I will also go the "call back" route.
    Hope we sort this out.
