I would guess power steering fluid. Looks like the type of pressure line which would likely hold either PS fluid or AC gas.

The one that is "wet" looks like the aircon pipe

I would guess that it is merely transporting the oil down it so look higher up for the actual leak

My power steering box on the D1 uses atf oil and is a bright red ,

If it is black then it could be your oil cooler on the radiator and the oil has found its way to the aircon pipe

My bet is the atf fluid is the cause of the leak

If you have a TD5 then that is the oil cooler pipe from the R380 gearbox

Just take two spanners and tighten it.

    Neither did I.
doing some research looks like it was only on defender outside of the UK.
one forum recommended just blanking it off.
anybody heard of doing this ?

Ditto on the cooler pipe. Dont blank it off. The oil pump feeds oil directly out through the pipe for cooling, which is the only sort of cooling for the R380.
I fitted a cooler at the turn of the pipe for better cooling.

Maybe some thread tape on that nut and tighten will seal the leak.

Thread tape is for plumbing, not automotive - a small bit breaking off can cause havoc!

Thread seal fluid or correct tightening.
