    You do know they add sugar to the wort to increase the ABV?

    You also know that all malts are pre-processed using a highly industrialised pressure steam process, the liquid malt extract is then stabilised using preservatives, and injected at precise rates into hot water? You also know all of the colour differences between the various beers is colourants?
    You do know the hops is also pre-isomerised as per the malt grains and stored as a liquid? This is then tested for AA and BA levels and blended during the boil process?

    SAB threw the Reinheitsgebot out the window decades ago.

    Now you know why SAB gives you a headache after a 6-pack.

    And now you know why I got into craft beer. I can drink a good craft beer all day long and be fresh the next morning.

    That's why I always tell people - have a batch fermenting, one cold crashing, one bottle conditioning and one ready to drink, at all times!

    @ViperR - that "psst" is a great sign. With time the bubbles will get finer and more dense, so your beer will look like more of a "beer".

    Default So I took the plunge

    Ek het my eerste een, 'n klein 400ml gedrink gisteraand. Na 5 dae in die bottel.

    Baie lekker maar nie heeltemal genoeg gas nie. Hopelik verbeter dit.

    Ek sit nou in 'n moeilike situasie. Ek gaan werk oorsee en wag net vir 'n brief en dan 'n vlug dan is ek oppad so nie seker of ek genoeg tyd gaan h om nog 'n batch te kan maak nie...

    Het die een wat ek in die yskas gesit het na bottling wat so flat was, buite gelos vir so paar dae en gisteraand weer in die yskas gesit - nou net genuttig en hy het heelwat meer gas as voorheen.

    Maar ja gaan vanaand die ander een wat nie in die yskas was nie nuttig - die bottel is lekker styf so ek dink hy het gas. Nou in die yskas gesit vir vanaand se proe




    Edit: - Dalk moet ek meer as 1L in die yskas gooi

    Ek gister ook n biertjie gevat hy was in n donker kas vir 10dae. Baie lekker met genieg gas. Ek het wel agter gekom die wat in donkerder bottels soos stoney het vir my meer gas in as die in die ligte bottels. Dit kan ook wees omdat dit die laaste paar dae bietjie warmer was.

    Dis hoe dit gaan met bier wat jy self maak. Jy dink nog 100l of so is genoeg maar dan braai jy dan het jy skielik min oor.

    PS: Ek kan baaaaaie meer homebrew drink as commercials sonder om dronk te word. Dis oor die algemeen ligter in alkohol en gesonder.

    Die pale ale begin by 1.045, en soos ek dit gekyk het eindig hy op so 1.011~1.013. Dit plaas hom baie solied in die 4% ABV-kampie. Meer flavour, kleur en geur as Black Label en Black Label sit op 5.5%.

    PS: Dis ook hoekom Windhoek se ABV baie laer is as bv Castle s'n. Hulle gooi nie crap by wat die ABV opstoot nie.
