Default Tyre Size Options - All Terrain - Discovery 3 17" rim size (7J)

    Hi

I have a 2007 Disco 3 2.7TDV6 S. Its due for tyre replacement. I want to keep all terrain tyres.
The OEM size is 235/70/R17 for this model. There are limited options from my searching the internet.
    These are the OEM sizes:

Currently I have 265/65/R17 tyres fitted, this is an alternative size according to this chart. Also I read on another forum that the 265/65/R17 which is made for a 7.5J rim is a bit wide for the OEM 7J rim and may cause long term issues with rubbing and prone to side wall damage because of the extra width since the rim is a 7J.

The link to the website for the above chart: https://tiresize.com/tiresizes/235-65R18.htm

My current options are, also cost limiting are from General Grabber AT3:
    1. 265/65/R17 - R2200
    2. 255/65/R17 - R3200
    3. 245/65/R17 - R2600

Which of these size options are better suited and match closer to the OEM 235/70/R17?
I will appreciate any comments from the forum.
Apologies for posting in the wrong sections, needs to be moved to Tyre chat section.

    I drive 265/65x17 on my D3
I like it because it gives a bigger wider footprint for this heavy vehicle , and uses a lot for sandy beach work.

    BUT
I will not put Genl Grabber on a D3 , their sidewalls are very weak, it sees a twig and you have a puncture.
Go for other make with over 1100 kg weight rating

265/65/17 is probably the most widely available tyre size. So that helps too when far from home.

Go for the LT spec tyre, not a P spec.

    LT- equals light truck
    P - equals passenger.

    Hi

    @Quicksilver and @Koos Best and @John.oosthuizen95

Here are the links to the tyres with specs:
    https://www.tyres.co.za/products/265...13504205848611

    https://www.tyres.co.za/collections/...abber-at3-114s

    https://www.tyres.co.za/collections/...abber-at3-111h

Are these LT? Are these the same Grabbers that have weak sidewalls?

I only do occasional trips, gravel and sand. Not any expedition stuff or rock crawling.

A t 3 has a thicker sidewall than the a t 2 as far as i know...these should be good.... As the sidewalls has 3 layers instead of 2

As a tyre guy, I side with Quicksilver: I would stick to the 265/65R17's. They are widely used and should you have a puncture somewhere, you are more likely to be ably to get one of those. Plus it has a larger footprint. My brother is also running these on his 2008 TDV6 with no issues (granted he doesn't go offroad, except to a winefarm)

In my opinion the rim being too narrow: If you follow the tab below, even the standard 235's are too narrow for the 7J's. My limited math says a tyre that is a bit wider will leave the sidewall LESS exposed.

Looks like I will be sticking to the 265/65/R17.
    The price is also good.

This is also my first choice, but the price is a bit steep for the Coopers. I currently run Coopers, came with the vehicle when I bought it 2 years ago.

Default Tyre Size Options - All Terrain - Discovery 3 17" rim size (7J)

Hi everyone, I have fitted General Grabber AT3 265/65/R17 on my Disco 3 TDV6.

Iím aware that Land Rover specifies 2 and 2.3 bar, however the fitment centre inflated them to 3 bar.
What is preferred Tyre pressure for them.
