I think closest to that that we got in SA was the V12 TDI Audi Q7.

ek kan net dink hoe vol geprop daardie engine bay is. Waarskynlik 'n engine uit job om die olie filter te ruil!

Wonder if it was a 'rework' of the Nardo W12's engine?

(And then there was the three bank W18 as well...)

As jy een kon bekostig was die dienskostes nie 'n probleem nie.

It would be interesting to know why you don't like them? One of the plus points is that the W12 was as long as a 4 cyl... just 3 times as wide.

The golf vr6 was also a w motor and the inner cylinders always ran hot to the extent that the engines were well known for popping head gaskets. In my book that lump ea a glorified boat anchor.

The V12 Q is a beast, 6l twin turbo producing 1000nm stock standard, puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, takes on most super cars and gives them a kick in the butt

The V8 tdi is quicker at 0 to 100 by 0.1 of a second.

Although the w12 has more power @ 330kw vs 250kw in the V8 the T1 is heavier

tourque the V8 is winner with 800nm vs 600nm in thw W12

It may have been the case with the first generation VR6, but those engines are even today very popular in Europe for hot rodding, and pretty reliable at that. Boat anchor?.....I don`t think so.

    Don't follow how the vr6 was a W motor?

I know they stuck 2 of them together to make the W12, how was the vr6 a w? Was always under the impression it is a narrow angle v6?

You are correct, I assume he meant it say it was once bank of the W

Hmmm... It's surprisingly not all that fast... the 0-100 was 5.3. Which is only 0.3s faster than a standard little Golf GTI. THe Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged is a muuuuuuuuuuuch more fun car to drive

I drove a Jetta VR6 from Gaberone to Johannesburg. The owner wanted it in Jhb at a specific time, and stood in for the speed fines. I won't divulge my average speed for the trip, but it gave me respect for that engine!Yes, I racked up a good cost in speeding fines.
