AFAIK they still use the Post office. Paid my trailers license on 16th of July. Still waiting for the license to arrive though. So they are still very slow.

I attempted the process about 3 or 4 years ago. I suppose part of the problem was a license that expired on 31 December. Did the COCT e-services thing on about 03rd or 4th of Jan, paid within a day or 2 and then the big wait started. The license was eventually delivered by the Post Office during the second week of March. Delivery was via Post Office

I had the same problem paid both cars during Dec 2016, only got licences end of Feb 2017. Never really bothered me, drove around with the reference nr and proof of payment in the car.

Never had any issues since then. A friend done the application and made payment end of June and received his license this week via post.

I received my email on the 8th of August and it stated payment must be done before the 22nd.

It is the first time that I have heard that you must pay on the same day you get the email.

    When did/does your license expire?

    Expired end of July already.

I applied on the Eservices website on the 20th of July.

Its not that bad, got up at 6 this morning, grabbed my paperwork, got a cuppa on the way and arrived at the Strand licence office about 06:30.
filled out the papers while drinking my coffee, waiting in the queue. A little bit of rain but not too bad. Was quite quick, back home by 08:15. Done and dusted...... no waiting for emails, no online payments, no waiting for postman that may or may not arrive.

I went to the Kraaifontein office on Tuesday morning, arrived there at 06h25 and left by 07h50 with the new licence in hand. They open at 07h30 and are very efficient.

I applied to register to the eService to renew my license in the beginning of August, but they are useless; it still shows as processing. So I went to Goodwood Traffic department this morning as it is just around the corner from where I work; stood outside for about 4hrs before I even got inside.
