    Dear Stan,
Thank you for the revised report of your 2015 trip. I found it a few days ago while looking for the link to Part 3 of your original report. I had just finished part 2 and could feel (and relate to) your pain when you and Anne faced vehicle problems.
It is fantastic to be able to see the maps that are included with their details of time and distance travelled. Seeing full sized photos rather than thumbnails is an additional bonus.
Your major contribution to me is the inspiration that you provided. This led to plans to travel from Cape Town to Tanzania starting in April this year but we all know that plans can go awry. Dreams however persist so my search for your original reports was to assist with future plans. The details you provide have been a tremendous help serving to guide me towards (or away) from certain locations/options.
Thanks for taking the time to update the Slow Donkey reports.
    They are appreciated.
    Regards
    Barry

It is a pleasure Barry. Attempts to help those planning similar trips was the prime intention. Please feel free to post any queries. There are also plenty of other members with information, often more up to date.

Enjoy your trip and feedback would be very helpful. Practice your Swahili!

Hi Stan. thank you for taking the time to write these travelogues. I already followed you on slowdonkey, but these are amazing. They are real inspiring and I hope in the future I can take a trip like yours. You have previously given me good advice (including a trip to Zimbabwe, which we should have been on in July ) . The only good thing about covid-19 is that my wife now agrees, that we will one day need to take a trip for 4-5 months selfdriving through Africa... And here your stories are amazing and very useful.

Thank you Stan, will be reading over this with the wife. This will really help us with planning for our honeymoon overloading trip.

Scooby, a honeymoon is a serious matter and I am flattered.

    Hi Stan,
just downloaded all parts of your trip report, although I had followed you on 'Slow Donkey' back in 2015. We missed each other then by a couple of days around Arusha.
Plenty of time to indulge the fantastic story again while trying to avoid the virus being stuck in Germany.
Thanks a lot for your efforts to keep the story alive for the community !!!

    Regards
    Fips

Hi Fips, thank you for the greeting. We continue to rue how relatively few fellow travelers we met and befriended on our African travels. Not from lack of effort though.

I just want to add my thanks to all the others you have received - this truly is a wonderful resource for all of us planning our African adventures. We are planning another journey in 2024 - 6 months this time (we did 4 months last time in 2018 and used your blog for inspiration then also) - and so I am enjoying revisiting your blog. Hopefully Covid will be but a distant memory by then and we are all travelling again like we used to! Thanks again, Julie

Thanks Julie from NZ, my youngest daughter and family happily live in Auckland and the Kiwis have all been very kind to them.

Although our trip was way back in 2015/16 it amazes me how little has changed. We will not travel much this year but are going to Zimbabwe for a month in July, visiting and camping at fantastic places.

I think 2023 is going to be a big year for our overlanding yen, but this time less planned and more spontaneous, pandemic allowing. We are even fitter than in 2015 and want to revisit the places that gave us the most pleasure and then also fill in further on what we missed previously. Immediately springing to mind are the north of Zambia and Lake Tanganyika there, as well as one of the traverses from South to North Luangwa.
