    Default best Garmin for overlanding

    I have a Garmin Nuvi
I cannot transfer routes from Basecamp to it
Which is the correct Garmin device to use for overlanding?
And where is the best place (read price) to purchase it?

    Thanks

Garmin GPSmap 66i, which includes satellite messaging capability via Iridium. It is then a dual purpose device and you can run route able T4A maps on it.

Not all nuvi's can do routes. I used nuvi's for many years for overlanding , not the entry models as they cant do routes, neither the top of the range. Bought the Overlander, basicly for the bigger screen, but is also maybe a bit of overkill.

I am also looking at the GPSmap66i just hope it give me better service as my GPSmap62s. It is still working, but unusable for kayaking now. I did wash it of with hot water after each use.

We use a GPSMap 64st, load local maps (T4A for Africa for example) and download to Garmin Connect, which links to Basecamp. It's been a good choice for us.
